Verona taxis: ranks, fares and booking apps

Whether you are leaving Verona Porta Nuova with luggage or heading back to your accommodation from Piazza Bra, a taxi can spare you a walk across the centre. How you request the car matters, particularly when you need it at a set time. Metered city fares differ from the fixed fare for the covered journey from Piazza Bra to Verona Airport.

Walking is the default for short journeys in Verona’s historic centre. A taxi is useful when you have luggage between Verona Porta Nuova and your accommodation, when walking is difficult, or when you want a late return directly to your door.

Corso Porta Nuova leads towards the Portoni della Bra, the gateway on the approach to the historic centre. With bags, consider how much walking remains beyond that approach, rather than just whether you can reach the square.

An on-demand request starts a search for an available vehicle, so allow for a wait before the car arrives.

Taxi ranks and calling a cab

At Verona Porta Nuova, the taxi rank is outside the main entrance in Piazzale XXV Aprile. At Piazza Bra, look on the gardens side of the square. These are public pickup ranks: go to the waiting taxis rather than treating the radio-taxi office as a collection point.

Call +39 045 532 666 to request a licensed taxi through Unione Radio Taxi Verona. Give the pickup address and destination, then explain how much luggage you have and any vehicle needs. If you are outside a hotel or apartment building, identify the entrance where you will wait so the driver can find you.

For a train or flight, leave room in your departure plans for a car to become available, including the time needed to reach your destination after pickup.

A radio-dispatched taxi can arrive with a fare already showing. The meter starts when the driver receives the radio call, but no earlier than the nearest taxi rank: you pay for the approach to your pickup address.

For a short metered city ride, budget roughly €10–€20, with heavier traffic, a radio-taxi approach or night travel pushing the cost upwards.

The airport fixed fare covers departure from Piazza Bra, not any address in Verona. The road journey to Verona Airport is about 12 km and takes about 16 minutes, but allow extra time for traffic before a flight.

Licensed RadioTaxi Verona vehicles carry an identifying mark or livery. The vehicle registration number, type and characteristics identify the car under its municipal licence.

Do

  • Match the arriving car’s registration and identifying mark to your request.
  • Confirm the meter or covered fixed fare before setting off.
  • Pay at the end of the ride.

Don’t

  • Board an arriving car solely because it stops beside you.
  • Assume the airport fixed fare covers a different pickup address.

Uber and taxi-booking apps

appTaxi requests licensed taxis in Verona. Verify the detected pickup address or enter one, optionally add your destination, then set payment, vehicle needs and driver notes. Request and confirm the taxi: the app contacts the local radio-taxi partner for the nearest available vehicle.

Use the estimated wait and the taxi ID, registration plate and vehicle type to identify the arriving car. Choose payment when requesting: in-app options include credit card, Satispay and available digital wallets. You can also pay the driver directly by cash or card at the end.

In Uber, enter your destination to see the available ride options and estimated prices. Choose by the service and quote displayed for that journey, because availability varies. Uber offers advance reservations up to 30 days ahead. An appTaxi request is specifically for a licensed taxi, whereas your Uber choice is the particular ride option shown for your trip.
