Nashville’s music story stretches from the instruments and stage costumes at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum to the Ryman’s pews and Lower Broadway’s live bands. Give yourself three full days after arrival to combine that downtown core with the Parthenon, Belmont Mansion and Tennessee history, then spend your evenings in different neighbourhoods. Each day includes a return to your accommodation before dinner.

SoBro, south of Broadway around the convention centre, puts the first museum within an easy walk of many hotels. Downtown also keeps you close to the music venues and restaurants. West End, around Centennial Park, suits the Parthenon day but means a ride or a longer walk to the downtown music cluster.
Coordinate the Ryman Self-Guided Tour with the opening museum ticket. For a Monday start, swap whole days: Parthenon and Belmont first, music second, history third. For a Saturday start, keep music first, use Sunday for outdoor neighbourhood time and move the Parthenon-led day to Monday. The history morning then needs Tuesday. A stay crossing Sunday and Monday needs cuts or an extra day, rather than simply shifting the same morning starts.
Summer highs often reach the upper 80s to low 90s °F, and humidity makes sustained walking strenuous. Carry water and rain protection, and wear supportive shoes for pavement walking and standing in galleries. The walking version of the second day is especially demanding, so a ride between districts may be more comfortable.
In rain, drop optional outdoor walks before cutting the main interiors. In winter, move outdoor pauses ahead of the accommodation rest to catch the remaining daylight.
Tickets and advance booking

| Ryman Self-Guided Tour | $25 plus tax | Fees included, advance slot advised |

| Parthenon interior | $15 | On-site only, 2.3% card charge |
| Belmont General Admission Tour | $18 | Self-guided, walk-up available |
| Base subtotal per adult | $123.28 | Before Ryman tax and Parthenon card charge |
Buy the opening museum ticket first, then secure the Ryman date and time. Arrive at the Hall of Fame for your selected entry time, and coordinate the two visits before purchasing. Ryman tickets can also be bought at the door, subject to availability. Its listed price applies to tours through 31 October 2026.
The Ryman ticket is a daytime tour, not a performance. Belmont’s General Admission Tour is self-guided with an introduction. Its separate Guided Mansion Tour costs $22 and advance purchase is recommended.
The subtotal uses the five scheduled visits and cash payment at the Parthenon. No compulsory booking fee applies there. Its adult and student groups need reservations at least 30 days ahead. Belmont requires reservations for groups of 15 or more and specialty tours.

Dinner and live music on Lower Broadway
6:30pm2 h
Eat, then listen to live bands.
Ends around 8:30pm
The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum’s costumes, the Ryman’s stage and Lower Broadway’s bands make this a music-filled day that ends with dinner and live performances. Set off from your central accommodation for the opening museum. If this day falls on Monday, swap it with the Parthenon-led day because the National Museum of African American Music is closed.
The Hall of Fame, Ryman and Lower Broadway are the three core music experiences. At the Hall of Fame, Sing Me Back Home: A Journey Through Country Music traces the genre through recordings, film and objects. Look for instruments and costumes associated with Hank Williams, Patsy Cline and Johnny Cash, then the Rotunda’s bronze inductee plaques.

- A museum of country music history in SoBro, south of Lower Broadway.
Music City Walk of Fame Park adds bronze and granite tribute stars. SoBro’s cafés around the convention centre keep lunch close to the route.
Ryman Auditorium’s stage, historic pews and artist exhibits explain its former role as the Grand Ole Opry’s home. The self-guided visit lets you connect the museum’s country-music story with the place where performers played.

The National Museum of African American Music broadens that story through gospel, blues, jazz, R&B and hip-hop. Prioritise Wade in the Water, Crossroads, A Love Supreme, One Nation Under a Groove and The Message. Treat this as a highlights visit, rather than trying every interactive exhibit.
The optional John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge gives broad Cumberland River and downtown skyline views, with late-afternoon light best for the skyline. After your accommodation rest, Riverfront Park’s public promenade offers places to sit by the water. Lower Broadway’s honky-tonks, live-music bars, follow dinner.

Eat along the restaurant strip.
Ends around 8pm
After downtown’s music day, the Parthenon’s Athena, Centennial Park and Belmont’s Victorian parlours give you art and outdoor space, ending with dinner along 12th Avenue South. Start again from your accommodation, travelling west to the Parthenon. On Sunday, swap this whole day with the music day, rather than delaying every stop.
The Parthenon’s gold-leafed Athena Parthenos stands 42 feet tall, recreated by Alan LeQuire. Pair it with the permanent American art collection, including nineteenth- and twentieth-century works. Centennial Park’s lake, small bridge and sunken garden make the optional walk worthwhile.

Hillsboro Village’s cafés and casual restaurants suit lunch before Belmont Mansion. This walking route crosses districts, so consider a ride from Centennial Park if heat or fatigue makes the longer stretch unappealing.
Belmont Mansion’s grand parlours, period furniture and decorative arts preserve the Victorian world of Adelicia and Joseph Acklen. For main-floor lift access, call 615-460-5459 on arrival for assistance through Massey School of Business. Upstairs bedrooms require stairs, with a video alternative and a virtual tour in the Museum Shop.

After Belmont and 12South, Tennessee State Museum’s history galleries, the Capitol and Germantown’s brick sidewalks make a slower final day, ending across the river with dinner in Five Points. Set off again from your central accommodation for the museum. On Sunday or Monday, move this day to Tuesday–Saturday because the museum is not open for the planned morning visit.
Tennessee State Museum’s permanent galleries are free and individuals can walk in. Prioritise Tennessee Transforms, spanning the early nineteenth century through the 1920s, and The Civil War and Reconstruction for a broad state-history overview.

Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park adds the Pathway of History, carillon and World War II Memorial. Nashville Farmers’ Market’s Market House opens daily 8am–8pm, but vendors keep their own hours. Bella Nashville Pizzeria and Chicago Style Gyros serve daily 10am–6pm, making them lunch options.
The Tennessee State Capitol’s House and Senate chambers and rotunda sit within Greek Revival architecture. Bring photo identification and empty metal objects from your pockets for screening. Weapons, knives, personal-protection devices and pepper spray are prohibited throughout the complex.

Germantown’s brick sidewalks, historic houses and storefronts reward the optional afternoon walk. Drop it in rain or when tired, then return to your accommodation before heading to East Nashville. East Park gives you an outdoor pause before Five Points dinner.
Late arrivals and shorter stays
- Two full days: keep the downtown music day and the Parthenon-led day. Drop the Tennessee-history and East Nashville day first.
- Late arrival: use only the Broadway evening, then begin the museum sequence on your first full morning.
- Early final departure: keep only the State Museum if its opening window and your departure allow. Leave Germantown and East Nashville out.
Three full days are enough for this first-visit mix, with the music core, West End sights and an adjustable final afternoon. Shorter stays work by cutting whole parts of these days, not squeezing every stop into less time.
