Privacy and Cookie Policy

This page explains what personal data The Travel Fieldbook collects when you visit, why we collect it, and the choices you have. Last updated: 14 October 2026.

Who is responsible for your data

The data controller is Francesco Longhitano. For any question or request about your data, write to privacy@travelfieldbook.com.

What we collect and why

Server logs

Like every website, our hosting provider records technical data for each request: IP address, date and time, the page requested and the browser used. These logs keep the site secure and working, which is our legitimate interest, and the provider keeps them only for the limited period needed for that purpose.

Analytics, only with your consent

We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which guides are read, so we can keep the useful ones accurate. If you are in the European Union, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we ask first: until you click Accept, the Google Analytics script is not loaded at all and nothing is sent to Google.

Everywhere else, Google Analytics runs from your first visit, and you can turn it off at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page. We tell the two cases apart from your device’s time zone, inside your browser, without sending it anywhere.

We use Google Analytics only for statistics and have not linked it to any advertising product. Google keeps the event data for no more than 14 months. Logged-in editors of the site are never measured.

Embedded maps

Some guides include Google Maps. A map loads only when you open it, and your browser then connects to Google, which receives your IP address and browser information under its own privacy policy (policies.google.com/privacy). We use maps to show routes, not to track you.

Emails you send us

If you write to us, we use your email address and message only to reply, and we keep them for as long as the conversation requires.

Cookies

The site sets one cookie of its own, to remember your choice in the banner. In Europe, the Google Analytics cookies are set only after you accept.

You can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page. If you decline or withdraw your consent, the Google Analytics cookies are deleted from your browser.

Who receives the data

  • Aruba S.p.A., Italy, which hosts the site.
  • Google Ireland Limited, which provides Google Analytics when you accept, and Google Maps when you open a map.

We do not sell personal data, we do not show advertising and we do not build profiles of our readers.

Transfers outside the European Union

Google may process data in the United States. Google LLC is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, which the European Commission recognises as providing adequate protection.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask us to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • correct it or have it deleted;
  • restrict or object to its use;
  • receive it in a portable format.

You can withdraw your consent to analytics, or turn analytics off, at any time, without affecting what happened before. To exercise any of these rights, write to privacy@travelfieldbook.com. You can also complain to the Italian data protection authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (garanteprivacy.it), or to the authority in the country where you live.

Changes to this policy

If we change what we collect or why, we update this page and its date. When the change concerns cookies, the banner asks for your choice again.
