St Augustine Breweries: Three Seated Beer Stops

Dog Rose Brewing Co., Bog Brewing Company and Old Coast Ales give you three ways to sit down with a local beer in St Augustine. Choose Lincolnville for a drink with taproom games, West King for an ale made with smoked local peppers, or Anastasia Island for a coffee brown ale and a separate taco stop next door.

Pick one taproom around the beer you want and the part of town you are visiting. Each offers seating, so you can settle in rather than turn the afternoon into a brewery checklist. Food arrangements differ, particularly if you want to eat while you drink.

Choose a taproom

Treat the named beers as choices to look for, then order from the taps available when you arrive. Rotating selections can change what you drink, and Bog’s seasonal beer is especially a reason to keep an alternative in mind. Tell the person serving you whether you prefer a pale ale, a smoked beer or a darker coffee-led drink.

For a casual seated beer, a walk-in is the natural approach. If you are arriving with a group and want seats together, arrange that in advance where reservations are accepted. Having a seat for everyone matters more than simply getting everyone through the door.

The table’s spending estimates cover one beer before sales tax and tip, with stronger or speciality pours tending towards the upper end. Adding a casual food-truck meal or tacos typically means another $10–$18 per person, while packaged snacks cost less. In the US, allow for sales tax on top of menu prices. A tip of about $1–$2 for a straightforward bar-served beer is customary, or around 15–20% when you receive table service.

Dog Rose Brewing Co. in Lincolnville

Dog Rose Brewing Co. suits a drink you want to linger over: look for Palace Pale Ale, settle at the bar or use the taproom’s space to spread out. Shuffleboard and darts give you something to do between drinks, rather than making the visit depend on ordering food.

The taproom has 16-foot shuffleboard tables and professional dart boards for cricket, the darts game based on closing out selected numbers. You can make the games part of a longer stop or simply take a seat with your beer. Bar seating also makes a straightforward option if you are visiting alone.

Eats by Dog Rose, the food truck, serves on a recurring weekend schedule. Time a visit within the truck’s window if you want more than a snack. Its service does not cover the whole time the taproom is open.

Packaged snacks include peanuts, potato chips, pretzels and beef jerky. They work for something small alongside a drink, but if you want a meal outside the truck’s service, eat separately before or after your beer. That leaves the taproom visit centred on the pale ale, a seat and perhaps a game.

Bog Brewing Company in West King

Bog Brewing Company gives a West King drink a local ingredient to focus on. Its house-brewed Smoked Datil Ale uses St Augustine datil peppers smoked with mesquite and applewood. Look for it among the seasonal and speciality beers.

Tap availability changes daily, so make your choice at the bar with another beer in mind if the datil ale is not pouring. There is indoor seating and a patio, allowing you to choose between a seat inside and an outdoor drink without changing venues.

Tacos My Blessing is the Mexican food truck parked behind the taproom. Its service is shorter than the brewery’s, so a late beer does not necessarily come with the option of truck food. Bog does not serve food itself, but you may bring snacks or a meal to eat with your drink.

Old Coast Ales on Anastasia Island

Old Coast Ales is the island choice when you want to sit with a Kookaburra coffee brown ale. Look for Kookaburra if you want a coffee-led beer, then choose from the available taps.

The taproom has indoor and outdoor seating, so you can decide where to settle once you arrive. Its Anastasia Island location puts the stop across the Matanzas River from the old town, useful if your day is already taking you onto the island rather than keeping you in the historic centre.

Osprey Tacos is next door, in a separate building, rather than a kitchen inside the brewery. Treat it as a separate food stop before or after your drink. For other inexpensive meals to pair with a taproom visit, cheap eats in St Augustine gives you food choices beyond the brewery.
