Craft Beer in Krakow: Five Bars and What to Order

Choose your Krakow beer stop by what you want in the glass and whether you want food with it. C.K. Browar offers beer brewed on site; Multi Qlti and House of Beer give you changing craft selections in the Old Town. BroPub brings a Brokreacja-focused choice to Stradom, while Strefa Piwa pairs Polish and Czech beer with snacks in Kazimierz.

These five bars suit a seated drink rather than a compulsory pub crawl. The named beers below are orders to look for, with everything from a Polish imperial stout to a Czech non-alcoholic light beer.

Rounded budgets for one beer, without food; serving sizes are planning estimates.

Ask what is pouring before settling on a named beer. Changing lists reward choosing by brewery and style as well as by name. Request a smaller serving where offered, especially for a stronger speciality beer, because these beers can cost more despite the smaller glass. Additional pours and food increase the bill.

Ask for seats if you want to linger, and contact the bar ahead to arrange places together for a group. A table request should make clear whether you want drinks only or food too.

C.K. Browar suits a house-brewed beer with a restaurant meal. Multi Qlti offers hot dogs and loaded fries, while House of Beer and BroPub have burgers for a longer stop. Strefa Piwa’s Czech-style snacks suit a beer with a bite rather than dinner. For an inexpensive meal separately from your drink, use budget meals in Krakow to choose somewhere food comes first.

C.K. Browar

C.K. Browar’s beer is brewed on the premises, a tradition that began in 1996. Look for C.K. Jasne, the lager described in English as C.K. Bright. It is the house choice for a locally brewed beer rather than a tour through guest breweries.

You can sit down for beer without ordering a meal. If you do want to eat, handmade pierogi, Polish filled dumplings, give you a local dish to pair with it. The menu’s Austro-Hungarian cooking with Polish roots also includes Wiener schnitzel, including on the substantial C.K. platter with ribs and pork knuckle.

Find it at Podwale 6–7, beside the western edge of the Old Town. The pub opens daily from 12:00. Restaurant service runs 12:00–01:00 on Friday and Saturday, and 12:00–00:00 from Sunday to Thursday. Treat the restaurant window as your guide when planning a meal, rather than assuming that a seated beer requires one.

Multi Qlti Tap Bar

Multi Qlti Tap Bar is the stop for Idiota, a Russian imperial stout by Polish brewery Trzech Kumpli. The style offers a darker, more intense direction than a light lager, so choose it when the beer itself is the focus of your break.

At Szewska 21 in the Old Town, the bar occupies an upstairs space in a tenement building. Head up the stairs to the first floor for seats around the bar and tables for small groups. You can take a seat for drinks without adding a food order.

Hot dogs and loaded fries make a casual accompaniment. The choices include meat, cheese and vegetarian-style options, so you can turn a drink into something more filling without choosing a restaurant-style meal.

House of Beer

House of Beer combines small Polish breweries with Belgian beers, giving you room to explore beyond a single brewery’s range. Look for Oto Mata IPA on the changing draught list if you want a Polish beer.

American-inspired food makes this a useful dinner stop as well as a beer bar. Burgers include beef, chicken and vegan choices, while nachos offer a smaller bite when you want food alongside a drink without committing to a full meal.

The address is Świętego Tomasza 35 in the Old Town, but use the entrance at Świętego Krzyża 13. The bar opens every day. Thursday beer service continues until 01:00, and Friday–Saturday until 02:00, giving you time for a drink after the kitchen has closed.

BroPub Craft Beer & Burgers

BroPub Craft Beer & Burgers is associated with Brokreacja, the Polish brewery behind The Alchemist American IPA. That is the beer to look for here. The draught range also includes Browar Piwoteka and Smykan, so the brewery connection does not mean every tap comes from Brokreacja.

The Butcher burger gives you a named food order for a beer-and-burger stop. A vegan patty can be substituted, though that alone need not make every burger’s toppings vegan. Pizzas broaden the meal options, while onion rings or fries suit a smaller food addition.

Find BroPub at Stradomska 11 in Stradom, the district between the Old Town and Kazimierz. It opens every day, and Friday beer service ends at 00:00. Weekend opening makes an earlier seated drink possible than on weekdays.

Strefa Piwa Pub

Strefa Piwa Pub offers a non-alcoholic Czech choice: Bernard’s light beer, Nealkoholické světlé pivo. Look for it when you want a beer-led stop without an alcoholic drink. Leśne Licho from Browar Podgórz provides a Polish small-brewery alternative within the pub’s Polish and Czech selection.

For food, look for hermelín, Czech marinated cheese. It is usually a soft, white-rinded cheese marinated in oil with seasonings, eaten as a savoury beer snack. That makes this a place for a drink with a bite, rather than planning a full restaurant meal around the food.

The pub is at Józefa 6 in Kazimierz and opens every day. Beer service runs until 00:00 Monday–Thursday and Sunday, or 02:00 Friday–Saturday. Choose it for an afternoon or evening stop rather than a lunchtime drink.
