London to Strasbourg: Train, Flight or Coach

Rail via Paris brings you into Strasbourg’s central station, while flying works best when the onward connection fits your arrival. Starting at Trafalgar Square in London and finishing at Place Kléber in Strasbourg, the choice also includes nearby airports and a long-distance coach. Direct Strasbourg flights have specific operating days, with additional services starting in late November 2026.

With children or heavy bags, weigh boarding steps alongside price. Choose rail for an overland journey ending at the central station, or a direct Strasbourg flight when its operating day suits you. Nearby-airport flights suit a favourable complete fare. Choose the coach if its fare justifies the long journey. Buying early can reduce demand-priced fares, subject to availability. Flight estimates vary with baggage and travel period. Add time for boarding, airport processing, changes and waits to the travel subtotals, which include the final walk only where stated. For late arrivals, choose the flight and onward connection together.

Eurostar and the Paris train connection

  1. Choose both Eurostar and the onward SNCF departure, leaving room for boarding in London and the Paris interchange.
  2. From Trafalgar Square, walk to Leicester Square and take the Piccadilly line to King’s Cross St Pancras. The approach takes about 17 minutes.
  3. At St Pancras International, follow Eurostar departures for Paris Gare du Nord.
  4. In Paris, transfer to Gare de l’Est, then match your SNCF train number and carriage to your ticket.

Eurostar’s London–Paris journey usually takes 2 hours 16 minutes, with some scheduled services taking up to 2 hours 37 minutes. Its advertised adult one-way starting fares require buying a return ticket, and the lowest fare is subject to availability.

  • Eurostar Standard: from £39 one way.
  • Eurostar Plus: from £70 one way.
  • Eurostar Premier, the fully flexible class: from £245 one way.

Gare du Nord is your arrival station, not your Strasbourg departure station. Metro line 4 towards Bagneux–Lucie Aubrac connects it to Gare de l’Est, with about 3 minutes of movement. Allow about 15 minutes for the public-transport transfer, then additional time to leave the Eurostar, find the next platform and wait. The €2.55 Metro-Train-RER ticket covers this rail-network transfer.

From Gare de l’Est, SNCF TGV INOUI and OUIGO Grande Vitesse serve Strasbourg. The domestic rail leg takes about 2 hours. OUIGO ESSENTIEL starts at €10 for an adult single, and OUIGO PLUS adds €9. TGV INOUI prices vary with train, date and class, so compare the actual fare alongside OUIGO’s extras. On 3 October 2026, the last London–Paris Eurostar departure was 20:01. Choose the onward Strasbourg train before committing to a late London departure.

London airport access

From Trafalgar Square, use bus 24 to Victoria railway station for Southern trains to Gatwick. The station-to-South-Terminal walk is about 250 metres, about 5 minutes. For easyJet to Strasbourg, continue to North Terminal, another about 5 minutes by interterminal shuttle.

For Luton, use St Pancras again, then East Midlands Railway to Luton Airport Parkway and the DART to the terminal. Parkway is not the terminal.

For Stansted, take bus 26 to Liverpool Street for Stansted Express. From the airport railway station, the terminal approach is about 150 metres, about 2 minutes. Allow extra time with bags before airport procedures.

Flights and airport connections

Strasbourg Airport gives you a direct train into the city, while Basel–Mulhouse and Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden require more ground transfers. Having reached your London airport, choose the flight together with its onward journey, especially for an evening arrival.

Strasbourg Airport and the airport train

easyJet serves Strasbourg from Gatwick on Thursdays and Sundays in October 2026. On 4 October 2026, the flight runs from 13:15 UK time to 15:50 French time: elapsed flying time is 1 hour 35 minutes, not the difference between the local clock readings.

The Gatwick railway approach from Trafalgar Square takes about three quarters of an hour, before the terminal connections described above. For Luton, the approach including DART also takes about three quarters of an hour. Rail fares vary by ticket type, date and time. A through-ticket naming “London Luton Airport” includes DART, but “Luton Airport Parkway” does not. A separate adult DART single costs £4.90.

easyJet’s Luton–Strasbourg service starts on 29 November 2026, with flights on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays. Jet2.com’s Stansted service runs on Thursdays and Sundays from 26 November to 20 December 2026. These winter services offer different departure airports, not daily alternatives to Gatwick.

At Strasbourg arrivals, walk to Entzheim-Aéroport station, about 16 minutes, then take the TER to Strasbourg station, about 11 minutes. Keep luggage manageable for the approach and the shared final walk to Place Kléber.

Basel–Mulhouse Airport via Saint-Louis

Basel–Mulhouse EuroAirport has direct flights from Gatwick with easyJet and Heathrow with British Airways. The comparison uses Gatwick’s London approach. Leave arrivals on the French side for the Saint-Louis connection. Take Distribus Line 11 to Saint-Louis station, about 11 minutes, then TER to Strasbourg, about an hour and a quarter.

An adult single costs €3 for the bus and €23.10 for the train. The bus-to-train change adds another luggage-handling step after your flight, so a low airfare needs to compensate for more than just the ground tickets. At Strasbourg station, continue on foot to Place Kléber.

Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden Airport connections

Ryanair flies from Stansted to Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden in 1 hour 25 minutes. Services run on selected weekdays and weekends, with a date-dependent pattern across autumn and winter 2026/27. Choose an evening flight together with its onward trains to Strasbourg, rather than relying on the late flight departures alone.

From Trafalgar Square, the Stansted railway approach takes about an hour and a quarter, before the terminal walk. Stansted Express adult Advance Offer singles start at £9.90 when bought online in advance, with limited availability.

After landing, reach Airpark Terminal (FKB), about 10 minutes on foot. Bus 215 takes about 29 minutes to Baden-Baden station, and the adult single is €3.70. Continue by RE2 to Appenweier, about 22 minutes. Appenweier is an interchange, not your Strasbourg arrival: you still need the onward train and final city walk. Include those rail tickets when weighing the airfare against the other routes.

Victoria Coach Station and Parc de l’Étoile

FlixBus offers London–Strasbourg coaches with a route-wide minimum scheduled journey of 16 hours 10 minutes. Departures vary in duration and changes. Adult one-way fares start at US$76.98, but choose the coach for the actual fare, not an assumed saving over rail or air.

Start again at Trafalgar Square: bus 24 and the walk to Victoria Coach Station take about 23 minutes. The adult pay-as-you-go bus single is £1.75. Victoria Coach Station is on Buckingham Palace Road, separate from Victoria railway station, so head to the coach departure building.

Select the arrival stop and any coach changes when choosing your ticket. For arrivals at Parc de l’Étoile, the walk to Place Kléber takes about 18 minutes. This is a different approach from arrivals at Strasbourg railway station.

From the railway station to Place Kléber

For Eurostar/TGV and airport-train arrivals, resume at Strasbourg railway station rather than Parc de l’Étoile. Place Kléber is about 1 km away, about 14 minutes on foot. Leave the station forecourt towards the historic centre. The square is where this journey from Trafalgar Square finishes. With heavy bags, leave room for a slower walk. Your hotel may be elsewhere, so a central station arrival does not remove the final journey to your accommodation.
