Málaga Rooftop Bars: Five Views for an Evening Drink

Málaga’s rooftop bars offer quite different reasons to look up from your drink. La Terraza at Hotel Molina Lario puts the Cathedral close to the evening’s conversation, while La Terraza de la Alcazaba faces the fortifications. ÀTICO, Lolita Skyview and Valeria’s Terrace widen the outlook towards the port and city skyline.

Choose by the landmark you want to face, then by the drink and access conditions that suit your evening. These five stops are for a rooftop drink, not a swimming session or a restaurant meal: a hotel bar can welcome outside visitors while keeping its pool for staying guests.

Rounded budgets for one drink, not a meal; spirit choice and cocktail selection affect spending.

For a close Cathedral outlook, choose La Terraza at Hotel Molina Lario. For the Alcazaba and Gibralfaro, choose La Terraza de la Alcazaba. Valeria’s Terrace suits a port-and-skyline evening, while ÀTICO offers a broader Cathedral, port and sea panorama. Lolita Skyview gives you the city and port together.

Arrive before sunset to see the landmarks in daylight, and request seats facing the view you came for. Where reservations are offered, arrange sunset seating ahead rather than relying on a particular table being free.

Smart-casual clothing is a sensible general choice. ÀTICO has a smart-casual dress code, but Valeria’s Terrace publishes no dress restriction, so the same suggestion there is advice rather than an entry rule.

For a seated dinner before or after your drink, restaurants in Málaga Old Town offer food-led choices in the historic centre. Keep the rooftop stop separate so that choosing a view does not also have to decide where you eat.

ÀTICO at AC Hotel Málaga Palacio

ÀTICO’s appeal is the breadth of its outlook: the Cathedral, port and sea all belong to the same rooftop panorama. Its 15th-floor position suits you if you want a wide view. Above Cortina del Muelle on the waterfront, the Cathedral remains a prominent part of the scene without being the only focus.

Ask for a gin and tonic, choosing the spirit to suit your taste. It is a straightforward order to seek here, rather than a house speciality. Treat your visit as a bar stop. A restaurant meal is a separate occasion.

Bar service starts at 12:30 and runs until 00:00 from Monday to Thursday and on Sunday, and until 01:00 on Friday and Saturday. That leaves room for either a drink before dinner or a later return to the rooftop.

La Terraza at Hotel Molina Lario

La Terraza at Hotel Molina Lario is the choice for a close view of Málaga Cathedral. Give that landmark your attention rather than treating the terrace simply as a high-level bar: its proximity is the reason to spend your drinks stop here. It is particularly suited to an evening when the Cathedral, rather than the wider harbour, is the view you want.

For your order, ask the bartender for a dry martini. Classic cocktails start at €12, and the menu invites requests for other classics. A dry martini is therefore a bartender request, not a specifically listed drink. That distinction matters if you arrive with one cocktail in mind: ask about it before settling on your order.

You do not need to be a hotel guest to come for drinks. La Terraza welcomes visitors as well as residents, and the rooftop offer continues year-round. This is a mid-priced hotel-bar stop, with cocktails and the Cathedral outlook as the main reasons to choose it.

La Terraza de la Alcazaba

La Terraza de la Alcazaba at Alcazaba Premium Hotel makes the fortifications the focus of your drink. The rooftop lounge seating overlooks both the Alcazaba and Gibralfaro, giving you a reason to linger with the view rather than simply stop for a cocktail. On Calle Alcazabilla, the terrace belongs to the part of the centre where the hillside monuments dominate the outlook.

Order the Mojito Premium, priced at €9. A mojito usually combines rum, mint, lime, sugar and soda, so it suits you if you prefer a long drink to a spirit-led short cocktail. For an alcohol-free choice, the menu also offers the Mojito Sin, meaning a mojito without alcohol, at €7.80. You can keep the same drinks occasion without choosing the rum version.

Outside visitors can come just for drinks, without dining at Batik. The restaurant is a separate choice. Neither a room at the hotel nor a meal there is needed for this rooftop stop. Settle into the lounge seating for the fortifications rather than approaching it as a dinner reservation.

Lolita Skyview at Only YOU Hotel

Lolita Skyview at Only YOU Hotel offers a broad city-and-port outlook from Alameda Principal. Choose it for a panorama that takes in the city as well as the harbour, rather than for one close-up monument. It suits an evening drink when you want to look across Málaga without making the Cathedral or the fortifications the sole focus.

Ask for Vermouth Dimobe, a concrete choice on the drinks menu. Vermouth is a fortified, aromatised wine, usually flavoured with botanicals, and makes a useful aperitif if you would rather have a wine-based drink than a cocktail. It fits a drinks stop before dinner without turning the visit into a meal.

Non-resident visitors are welcome at the bar, including for a late drink after dinner. Pool and sun-lounger access, however, is exclusively for hotel guests. Coming upstairs for a drink does not give you access to those facilities.

Valeria’s Terrace at Room Mate Valeria

Valeria’s Terrace at Room Mate Valeria looks over the port and Málaga skyline from the harbour edge near Soho. Choose the open terrace’s lounge sofas or high tables for your drink with a view. These are the drinks seats to seek, rather than the separate poolside sunbed area, which is reserved for staying guests.

Sangria is the drink to ask for here. Usually made with wine and fruit, it suits a relaxed rooftop stop when you prefer that combination to a spirit-based cocktail. Make the terrace outlook the reason for coming, with the drink accompanying it rather than a swimming session or a dinner plan.

The bar welcomes non-resident visitors and serves drinks from 11:00 to 02:00. Private events, maintenance or weather can change terrace hours, so leave some flexibility in an evening built around this stop.
