Tenerife Buses and Trams: Routes and Boarding

TITSA buses connect Tenerife’s main towns, resorts, beaches and both airports. The tram serves the urban corridor between Santa Cruz and La Laguna. Match the line number with the destination display before boarding, especially at airport stops and on late returns, when departures may use a different stop or finish short of the usual terminus.

Bus travel between the main towns and resorts is manageable with the right departure and return in mind. Plaza de España to Santa Cruz bus interchange is about 1 km, about 14 minutes on foot, through the central city.

For heavy luggage or an inconvenient return, Tenerife taxi fares and ranks explains the direct-ride alternative.

Santa Cruz bus interchange, south of the waterfront centre, connects the northbound 102, southbound 110 and beach-bound 910 with the tram terminus.

On TITSA’s website, use the fare calculator: select your line, departure stop and destination stop to find the single fare.

A ten+ Wallet can cover several people only when they make the same journey, with the same origin and destination. Validate for each passenger. The fixed-period travelcards are individual and cannot be shared. They are available on the physical card or in ten+ Móvil, the mobile ticket app.

Buying and validating

Do

  • Tell the bus driver your destination when buying a single.
  • Tap a physical ten+ card on the lower part of the validator beside the driver on boarding and again when leaving the bus.
  • Validate a tram ticket beside the doors immediately on boarding, including after a transfer.
  • Keep your ticket or app receipt available throughout the journey.

Don’t

  • Leave the bus without the exit tap: the fare may run to the line’s final stop.
  • Treat a purchased but unvalidated ticket as permission to travel.
  • Share an individual travelcard.

Onboard bus singles can be paid for in cash or with Visa or Mastercard that does not require a PIN. A phone or watch with an integrated eligible bank card also works.

Buy a physical Wallet at TITSA sales points, airport or tram ticket machines, kiosks and authorised outlets. On the tram, tap a ten+ card on the lower part of the validator, once per passenger when sharing.

Use TITSA’s planner for journeys and ten+ Móvil for tickets. The app sells bus and tram singles. Prepare your ticket before boarding: select “Tickets”, then “Travel”, and scan the vehicle’s QR code. Wait for confirmation and retain the trip under “Receipts” for the driver or inspector. Tram staff may also request identification.

348Puerto de la Cruz 09:30; La Orotava 09:45Teide / Parador Nacionalabout an hour and a half from Puerto de la Cruz

The Teide Parador is a road-level base for the volcanic landscape, not the summit. Plan one out-and-back mountain journey, allowing separately for waiting and connections.

Both mountain lines have one outward and one return journey. Their timetables carry daily operating labels, but the service-resumption notice limits both lines to Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. Do not assume a daily mountain connection.
