Baden-Baden Airport to Strasbourg: Transfer Options

Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden Airport (FKB) is on the German side of the border, while Strasbourg’s Place de la Gare is the forecourt of its central railway station. Public transport starts with the airport bus to Baden-Baden station, then continues by train or by coach with a tram connection in Strasbourg. A taxi or reserved car takes you directly to the same forecourt.

All three run from the FKB passenger terminal to Place de la Gare. Allow separately for baggage reclaim, departure waits and station boarding. With a reserved car, also allow time to meet your driver and load your bags.

Choose the train when its connection suits and you want a railway-station arrival. For a budget journey, compare the complete coach fare against the rail offer, not just the coach’s starting price. The coach adds a tram change with your bags, while a direct car reduces handling with children or a group and can suit a late flight.

Airport bus to Baden-Baden station

Take bus 215 towards Baden-Baden Bahnhof, operated by Verkehrsbetriebe Baden-Baden (Baden-Baden Transport Services). Airpark Terminal is the departure stop in front of the passenger terminal. Allow about 10 minutes for the approach from the terminal. Keep your luggage with you for this first boarding.

The bus ride to Baden-Baden station takes approximately 26 minutes. The station is in Oos, away from Baden-Baden’s town centre: stay on for Baden-Baden Bahnhof rather than heading into town. This is the shared gateway for both the Strasbourg train and the coach.

Buy your airport bus ticket at the KVV machine at the bus stops in front of the terminal. Having it ready before the bus arrives leaves you free to handle your bags rather than deal with the purchase while boarding.

If you use a bwtarif ticket, it needs no validation and is valid during the period printed on it. This rule is specific to bwtarif tickets, rather than a blanket rule for every ticket sold for the airport bus.

Train from Baden-Baden station

From Baden-Baden station, TGV INOUI provides the direct train to Strasbourg. Connecting journeys use TER or Deutsche Bahn (DB) regional services, with a change at Offenburg or Karlsruhe. Cross-border services also run under DB SNCF Voyageurs cooperation. A rail change means unloading your bags and carrying them to the next train, while the direct TGV avoids that extra boarding.

The direct TGV takes 30 minutes station to station. Connecting journeys include 50-minute, 1-hour-8-minute, 1-hour-16-minute and 1-hour-23-minute services, depending on departure. Choose the actual connection rather than treating all regional journeys as equally quick.

The comparison’s starting fares are second-class offers for selected dates: TER on 5 October 2026, RE on 19 October 2026 and TGV INOUI on 9 October 2026. Prices depend on the date, train and remaining availability, and these offers are not fully flexible tickets.

DB Super Sparpreis and Sparpreis bind you to the booked long-distance train, including a cross-border TGV. Regional trains before or after it are not train-specific. DB Flexpreis Europa permits departure flexibility except on compulsory-reservation trains. For a flight arrival, that distinction matters if a delay leaves you unable to catch the booked long-distance departure.

SNCF e-tickets for European destinations need no validation or punching: show the ticket on your phone or as a printout when requested. For other ticket types, follow any validation instructions printed on the ticket.

At Strasbourg railway station, leave for Place de la Gare, about 1 minute on foot. You arrive at the forecourt itself, without another bus or tram ticket.

Coach to Place de l’Étoile

After the airport bus reaches Baden-Baden station, walk about 1 minute to the Strasbourg-bound FlixBus at Baden-Baden Bahnhof bus station, Ooser Bahnhofstraße 4. Use the coach boarding point, not a railway platform, and keep the coach ticket ready separately from your airport bus ticket.

Buy the Baden-Baden–Strasbourg coach ticket through the FlixBus website or app, on board, or at a FlixBus sales point or agency. Choosing a departure before travelling to the stop makes the onward boarding straightforward. The advertised minimum coach journey is 55 minutes, but a particular departure can take longer.

You arrive at Place de l’Étoile, south of Strasbourg’s historic centre, rather than at the railway station. Continue by CTS tram to reach Place de la Gare. This option involves taking your bags off the coach, walking to a tram platform and boarding again.

The coach stop at Place de l’Étoile in Strasbourg.

Walk about 4 minutes to Étoile Bourse. Tram lines A and D both run directly towards Gare Centrale, and the line D ride takes about 9 minutes. From Gare Centrale, the final walk to Place de la Gare takes about 1 minute. Choose the station-bound direction, not the opposite platform.

The comparison’s tram fare applies on Badgéo, the CTS app or a reloaded contactless ticket, with a surcharge for a first contactless ticket purchase. The single is valid for 1 hour, allows transfers and does not include a return trip.

Validate physical tickets on the platform before boarding. For Badgéo mobile NFC tickets, tap the back of your unlocked phone, with its screen on, against the platform validator. CTS app “Immediate Departure” QR tickets activate immediately and validate automatically on trams: keep the QR code and its countdown available for inspection. Activate this ticket when you are ready for the tram, not while still on the coach.

Taxi and prebooked transfers

For a direct journey from FKB, the taxi rank is in front of the terminal. Agree the Strasbourg destination and cross-border fare with the taxi company before taking a walk-up ride. A suitable taxi at the rank is not the same as a reserved collection, particularly if you need room for several suitcases or child seats.

Prebooked FKB–Strasbourg transfers are offered by providers including Alsace Navette, ARM VTC, CLIC VTC and ELAR DRIVE. Specify Place de la Gare as your destination and give the passenger count, luggage and any child-seat requirements when arranging the vehicle.

The comparison’s price range is per vehicle, rather than per passenger. Sharing can make the extra cost easier to justify, while larger vehicles and late collection may push the quote upwards. Agree the fare rather than assuming a fixed airport tariff: a journey beyond the local taxi tariff area can be freely priced.

A car delivers you to the forecourt without station or tram changes. Allow for collection waiting and traffic in addition to the driving estimate, especially when arranging a pickup after baggage reclaim.

Late flights and morning departures

For a late or delayed flight, a reserved road transfer can avoid a missed onward connection. Elsass VTC, for example, tracks the booked flight and adjusts the chauffeur’s arrival for delays without extra cost or action from you, and its waiting time is included. Agree the collection arrangements for the provider you choose rather than assuming every transfer has the same terms.

If you have already reached Baden-Baden station and missed your onward journey, an overnight nearby keeps you at the departure gateway. On Monday 5 October 2026, the first Strasbourg-bound train departs at 06:14, with a change at Offenburg.
