Gluten-Free Restaurants in Nashville: Four Picks

Choose your Nashville food stop by the occasion, then discuss how your order will be prepared. Sunda offers a pan-Asian dinner in the Gulch, Mangia brings a family-style Italian feast to Berry Hill, and Sunflower Cafe suits a plant-based meal. The Gluten-Free Goose Bakery in South Nashville is a separate choice for baked goods rather than dinner.

Gluten-free dishes in a shared kitchen and baking in an entirely gluten-free facility describe different arrangements. Neither a menu label nor a reported precaution is a safety certification for someone with coeliac disease.

MangiaBerry HillGluten-free focaccia and aubergine parmesan$60–90, feastFri–Sat feast; Sun–Thu private events
Sunflower CafeBerry HillVeggie burger on a gluten-free bun$15–25, burger and sideMon–Sat; closed Sunday
The Gluten-Free Goose BakerySouth NashvilleCinnamon roll$5–15, bakery snackWed–Sat retail

The best choice depends on whether you want dinner, a plant-based full meal or a bakery purchase. Sunda suits a dinner built from several dishes. Mangia makes the meal itself an evening event. Sunflower Cafe offers a casual savoury meal, while The Gluten-Free Goose Bakery is for a sweet stop or something to take away.

The spending ranges are rounded food budgets, not fixed menu prices. At the restaurants, drinks and extra dishes can move you above them, and tax and tips add to the bill. At the bakery, buying several pastries rather than one changes the total.

Tell staff you have coeliac disease before ordering, rather than asking only whether a dish is gluten-free. Ask how your particular order is prepared, including shared equipment, frying and preparation surfaces. A vegan label concerns animal ingredients, not gluten, so it does not answer those questions.

Menu declarations identify dishes or adaptations. Separate preparation areas and designated fryers describe handling precautions, while dedicated gluten-free baking describes the production setting. None provides grounds to rank these four places as the safest.

Reserve a fixed-time dinner or group meal before shaping the evening around it. Keep a casual meal or bakery purchase more flexible, choosing the neighbourhood and type of food that fit the rest of your day.

Sunda

Sunda’s crispy rice with spicy tuna is a gluten-free-marked dish on its dinner menu. It gives you a specific starting point for a pan-Asian dinner in the Gulch, rather than leaving you to ask for an unspecified gluten-free meal. Plan to order other food alongside it if you want a complete dinner.

The main dinner menu marks individual dishes “GF”, meaning gluten-free, rather than presenting a separate gluten-free dinner menu. Read those markings dish by dish as you assemble your order, since they do not extend to everything on the table.

Sunda has a shared kitchen that also handles gluten-containing food. The label describes the offered dish, not a guarantee of coeliac suitability. For a coeliac order, the preparation discussion matters even when you have already found the GF mark. Resolve that before choosing accompanying dishes, especially if others in your party are ordering food to share.

Mangia

Mangia’s family-style Italian feast includes singing and dancing, making it a choice for an evening centred on the meal rather than a quick individual main course. Food arrives as part of a dinner-party format, so choose it when your group wants to eat together and stay for the occasion.

Gluten-free focaccia and aubergine parmesan, listed locally as eggplant parmesan, are dishes to request. Mangia offers gluten-free adaptations of all menu items, so the focaccia need not be left out simply because you are avoiding gluten. The aubergine dish gives you a named savoury option to discuss alongside the bread.

Mangia operates a shared kitchen, not an entirely gluten-free one. Reported precautions include a separate gluten-free preparation area and a designated fryer, according to independent dining coverage. Those handling reports are distinct from Mangia’s own declaration that its menu can be adapted. Use the booking conversation to discuss how the focaccia and fried aubergine for your party will be prepared, rather than treating either the adaptations or the reported equipment separation as certification.

Sunflower Cafe

Sunflower Cafe offers a plant-based full meal built around a veggie burger on a house-made gluten-free bun. The Berry Hill cafe adapts all veggie-burger styles with that bun, which carries an additional $2 charge.

The gluten-free choices extend beyond the burger. BBQ can also be served on the house-made bun or on greens. All sides are gluten-free, and entrée salads are gluten-free when served without the whole-wheat pita. Leaving off the pita is therefore part of the order, not just a preference about the bread.

The kitchen also handles gluten-containing food. A house-made gluten-free bun answers the ingredient question, but preparation still needs discussion. The illustrative burger photograph includes halloumi cheese and is not a Sunflower Cafe dish, so it should not guide your plant-based order.

The Gluten-Free Goose Bakery

The Gluten-Free Goose Bakery is a South Nashville stop for cinnamon rolls and other baked goods, rather than a full sit-down meal. On Sugar Valley Drive, it suits a sweet purchase to enjoy as a snack or take away.

The bakery describes itself as entirely gluten-free, and its dedicated gluten-free production setting is also identified in independent dining coverage. Dedicated production is not, by itself, a safety certification.

Keep the purchase focused on the baked goods you want, and mention any additional allergies before choosing. Gluten-free describes the absence of gluten, not the absence of every other allergen. The cinnamon-roll photograph is illustrative rather than a picture of the bakery’s own product.

Nashville Hotel Tax: Work Out Your Final Room Bill

Paid hotel stays in Nashville-Davidson County attract both sales tax and local hotel occupancy charges. Summer is the strongest choice for a warm-weather beach outing at Percy Priest Lake, with early autumn an alternative if you prefer less intense heat ashore.
