Granada nightclubs: Where to Dance

Choose your Granada dance floor by the music, not just the nearest door. Aliatar suits commercial-hit nights, Granada 10 brings pop and dance to a former cinema, Colón Plaza gives groups a choice of rooms, and Planta Baja pairs concerts with later DJs. All four are within walking reach of Plaza Nueva, a useful starting point in the centre.

These are alternatives for an evening out, rather than stops on a club crawl. The main differences are whether you want familiar songs, electronic music, karaoke or a gig that turns into dancing, and how admission works once you arrive.

Aliatar is the mainstream choice; Granada 10 suits students and visitors wanting pop and dance. Colón Plaza works for groups with different tastes, while Planta Baja suits listeners who want a concert followed by dancing. Admission estimates vary with the night and any included drink; Planta Baja’s examples are event-specific, not a standing tariff.

Arrive after midnight for a fuller dance floor, rather than treating opening time as the night’s peak. Granada’s club rhythm runs late. A concert start is different: arrive for the performance if you want the gig, or choose the later DJ session for dancing. Line-ups change from night to night.

Budget roughly €4–6 for beer and €8–12 for a spirit with mixer, but premium brands, larger serves and special events can cost more. Plaza Nueva makes a recognisable meeting point before you head to your chosen venue.

Aliatar

Aliatar combines a former-cinema setting with commercial hits. Its programme also includes dembow and reggaetón on some nights, making it a good fit if your group wants familiar songs and mainstream dancing rather than a single electronic genre.

Recurring club nights run on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Sunday sessions begin at either 16:30 or 17:00, offering an afternoon-to-evening alternative to the late club nights.

From Plaza Nueva, head through the central streets towards Calle Recogidas. The converted cinema is the distinctive setting to look for, rather than a separate purpose-built club building.

Granada 10

Granada 10 is the pop-and-dance choice in a former cinema. The building on Calle Cárcel Baja gives this central dance floor a distinct setting, suited to students and visitors who want familiar music rather than a gig-first evening.

Its recurring club sessions are on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, generally 00:00–07:00, with individual event hours varying. From Plaza Nueva, head towards the cathedral area and Calle Cárcel Baja to reach the former cinema.

Colón Plaza

Colón Plaza suits a group that does not want one shared soundtrack. Noise Club is its electronic-music room, while Enjoy Room offers karaoke. Choose it when some of you want to dance and others would rather sing, instead of making everyone commit to a single dance floor.

The venue opens Sunday–Wednesday, 16:00–03:00; Thursday, 16:00–06:00; and Friday–Saturday, 16:00–07:00. These are venue opening hours, so an early arrival suits a longer evening rather than necessarily a busy electronic session.

From Plaza Nueva, head towards Plaza de Isabel la Católica. Look for the entrance at Plaza del Poeta Luis Rosales 1, in the adjoining square. Keeping that entrance in mind makes it easier to find than relying on the larger square alone.

Planta Baja

Planta Baja is the choice for a gig that turns into dancing. DJs play in each room after every concert, with separate programming for the rooms. Its varied sessions span urban sounds, electronic music, trap, reggaetón and hard groove, rather than one recurring genre. The audience is diverse, and a 2016 guide also described it as popular with students.

Arriving for the concert means giving the performance its own time, while coming for the DJs means joining the later part of the evening. Separate room programmes also give you a reason to move between spaces once the live music ends. DJ admission is event-specific: examples include free entry and €5 without a drink for EL COLMADO. Choose the session as well as the venue.

From Plaza Nueva, head west through the centre towards Calle Horno de Abad. Planta Baja is at number 11, away from the former-cinema choices.

Bus Búho is the local name for the night bus. The central corridor passes the Ayuntamiento (Town Hall) area, making it relevant to these clubs, but choose it only when its route also serves your accommodation.

Walk if your accommodation is central and the route suits you, or take a licensed taxi if it does not. An address uphill in the Albaicín can be a different proposition from one near the dance floor. Keep the accommodation address ready for the driver, and agree your group’s return choice before splitting up.
