Live Music in Turin: Four Venues for Your Night Out

Turin’s live-music choices range from alternative gigs at Blah Blah to jazz at Jazz Club Torino, independent concerts beside the river at Magazzino sul Po and touring shows at Hiroshima Mon Amour. Choose the performance first, then the venue: these are different nights out, not stops on a bar crawl. Piazza Castello is a useful central starting point for comparing the journeys.

An early-evening drink fits before a performance, but arrive before the advertised start, leaving room for entry and finding your spot. Programmes change: at venues mixing concerts and DJ parties, choose an event described as a live show if hearing musicians perform is your priority.

For a usual drink budget, allow roughly €5–€8 for a beer or glass of wine and €8–€12 for a cocktail, but larger servings and premium spirits push the price upwards.

If you would rather move between bars or spend the evening on a dance floor, Turin’s bar areas and dancing offer a different night from committing to a performance.

Blah Blah

Blah Blah occupies a former cinema on Via Po, making it a good fit for an informal central gig with an alternative-music crowd. Its guitar programme reaches well beyond indie rock, with garage punk, emo/post-hardcore and thrash or death metal alongside psychedelic rock, noise and more experimental sounds.

Concerts run on various nights, including Wednesday–Saturday and occasional Sundays. Starts commonly fall around 21:30–22:00, with some at 21:00 or 21:45 and occasional earlier Sunday performances. Being open for a drink does not mean a concert has begun.

  • Monday–Thursday: 07:00–02:00.
  • Friday: 07:00–03:00.
  • Saturday: 08:00–03:00.
  • Sunday: 09:00–02:00.

Ordinary concert admission ranges from €7 to €25. The price can be a presale or door amount, with event-specific extras or inclusions. Advance tickets are event-dependent rather than universally required: some shows sell at the door, while others offer or recommend advance purchase and leave limited availability on the night. For a particular band, an advance ticket is the less uncertain choice.

From Piazza Castello, the walk is about 550 metres and takes about 7 minutes along the central streets towards Via Po. Its arcades make the approach easy to recognise, and the venue suits an evening that begins in the historic centre rather than with a trip across town.

Jazz Club Torino

Jazz Club Torino in Piazzale Valdo Fusi is the choice for listeners who want a jazz performance to be the focus of the evening, rather than a guitar gig or a mixed club night. The square puts it within the central city, so you can combine the concert with dinner nearby without making the venue a separate cross-town excursion.

Live music runs Tuesday–Sunday from 21:30. The club opens at 18:00 on those days and closes at 01:00 Tuesday–Thursday and Sunday, or 02:00 Friday–Saturday. The gap between opening and the performance leaves room for an unhurried start.

Starting from Piazza Castello, the walk to Piazzale Valdo Fusi is about 950 metres and takes about 13 minutes. Choose this setting if your group shares an interest in jazz and wants to settle on one performance, rather than selecting a venue mainly for its bar.

Magazzino sul Po

Magazzino sul Po draws a mixed music-and-cultural crowd to the Murazzi, the embankments beside the River Po. Its programme spans indie, electronic music, funk, hip-hop and house. Choose it for an independent riverside show, with the cultural-space setting as much a part of the choice as the genre.

Concerts often take place on Fridays and Saturdays, though other nights feature too. Many begin at 21:00, with exceptions. Ordinary concert admission ranges from free to €15. Choose a live concert rather than a DJ party if you want to hear a band perform.

The entrance, bathrooms and outdoor area are accessible to people with reduced mobility. The dance floor is reached using a mobile ramp during events, so tell the entrance staff if you need that access rather than assuming the entire interior is on one level.

From Piazza Castello, the walk is about 1.4 km and takes about 19 minutes towards the Po. The Murazzi are at river level, below the streets above, which helps distinguish the destination from bars around Piazza Vittorio Veneto.

Hiroshima Mon Amour

Hiroshima Mon Amour on Via Carlo Bossoli is a long-running concert and cultural venue with rock, jazz and other live acts. Come for a particular touring show rather than a casual central bar stop. Italian and international artists both feature, and its youth-culture focus brings an audience whose interests depend on the performer.

Concerts take place on various days rather than fixed nights, most often starting at 21:00, with exceptions. Ordinary concert admission ranges from €10 to €25. Advance purchase is recommended, not compulsory: tickets are also sold at the box office on the night, subject to availability. The box office usually opens one hour before the show, and tickets cannot be reserved. If seeing the act is the reason for your evening, buying ahead avoids relying on remaining door tickets.

From Piazza Castello, the public-transport journey is about 6.9 km and takes about 37 minutes using bus 63, with no change. Leave time for the walking approach and entry before the performance. The location is south of the historic centre, in the Lingotto area, so decide how you will return before setting out, especially for a show that finishes late.

Getting back after the concert

After a show at Blah Blah, Jazz Club Torino or Magazzino sul Po, walking can suit accommodation in the centre. From Hiroshima Mon Amour, choose between a usable night bus and a licensed taxi according to where you are staying and when the concert finishes.

Night Buster operates on Friday and Saturday nights and nights before public holidays, generally 23:00–05:00. The network connects outlying terminals with Piazza Vittorio Veneto. S18 Blue serves Lingotto railway station, about 200 metres from Hiroshima Mon Amour, on its route between Via Artom in Mirafiori Sud and the centre.

Departures from peripheral terminals run 00:00–04:00, while departures from Piazza Vittorio Veneto run 01:00–05:00. These windows are terminal departures, not passing times at Lingotto. Use a licensed taxi when the night service does not match your night or destination, rather than heading to a stop expecting an all-week service.
