Verona Nightlife: Areas, Music and Getting Home

Verona’s nightlife is strongest in its bars, with Piazza delle Erbe for social drinks and Veronetta for a younger, student-oriented evening. Le Cantine de l’Arena adds a seasonal live-music option near the Arena, while Dorian Gray in Cadidavid is the choice for a dedicated night of dancing outside the centre.

Choose the centre for conversation, Veronetta for bar-hopping and Dorian Gray for dancing. Its admission examples are event-specific, not a usual-night tariff, and the bus journey above is a daytime reference, not a night service.

Start with aperitivo, the early-evening drink often accompanied by snacks, then stay for later drinks or head to a dance floor later in the evening. Weekend bars are usually busier, so arrive earlier if sitting together matters. Programmes and line-ups vary by night.

  • Beer: roughly €5–7.
  • Cocktail: roughly €8–14, with elaborate drinks and prominent square-side seating towards the upper end.

Piazza delle Erbe and the historic centre

Piazza delle Erbe suits an evening built around conversation rather than a dance floor. The main bar concentration is around the square and the adjoining old-town lanes towards Piazza dei Signori. Locals and visitors mix here, making it a straightforward choice when your group wants drinks without committing to a music venue.

Casa Mazzanti Caffè is the square-side choice for social drinking: choose it when the setting is as important as the drink. Caffè Filippini has an established cocktail-bar character, while Archivio is the more focused choice for crafted cocktails. These are different ways to spend a central evening, rather than three compulsory stops.

Settle at one bar if you want an uninterrupted catch-up, or move between nearby bars if you want to change the setting. In warmer weather, outdoor seating lets the square become part of the evening. A terrace table suits a longer drink, while a cocktail-focused stop can be the main event rather than an addition to a circuit.

Veronetta

Veronetta is the better fit for a younger, student-oriented bar evening. Across the Adige from the historic centre, this university-side neighbourhood has a more alternative social scene. Its evening bars cluster around Piazza Isolo, giving you a recognisable starting area rather than a reason to wander the whole district.

The Soda Jerk is the choice for creative cocktails and a deliberate first drink. Rivamancina suits student-area social drinking, while Art Café LimeOlé House is a conversation-led option. Choose according to whether you want the cocktail itself to lead the evening or simply a place to talk with your group.

From the historic centre, crossing the river changes the setting without making this a suburban club outing. Choose Veronetta over Piazza delle Erbe if the younger bar scene matters more than a square-side table. You can begin with a cocktail and then move to a more casual social stop, rather than treating every venue as part of a fixed route.

Le Cantine de l’Arena

Le Cantine de l’Arena’s Music Brasserie suits a seated evening of live music rather than bar-hopping. Jazz defines its programme, alongside funk, soul, R&B, pop and swing. The brasserie setting makes this a laid-back choice for listeners who want a table and a performance to anchor their evening near the Arena.

Reserve a table in advance through the venue’s online booking system, choosing the date, table type and time slot. This is a table-based evening, so make the reservation before building the rest of your night around the performance.

Via Leoncino is part of the Arena-side old-town setting, useful for placing this evening geographically: you remain close to the central squares rather than travelling out to a suburban dance venue.

Dorian Gray

Dorian Gray in Cadidavid is for a night centred on the dance floor. It is a suburban venue, not another stop on a central bar circuit. Friday’s 1980s and 1990s revival music and live bands suit retro-pop fans, while Saturday’s DJs and international artists suit club crowds. Latin-themed events offer another reason to choose a particular night.

Choose the event as well as the venue: a drink-inclusive offer with an arrival cut-off suits a different evening from a headline-artist ticket. Allow for the admission attached to your chosen event, rather than using another night’s offer as your budget.

For daytime access, the sampled bus 41 journey runs from Piazza Bra towards Dorian Gray in Cadidavid. Use a licensed taxi for a late arrival rather than treating that daytime journey as a night connection. Leaving the centre makes this a deliberate destination choice, best suited to a group that wants to stay for dancing rather than keep switching bars.

Getting back after a night out

Walking back is the simplest option if your accommodation is close to the central bars. From Cadidavid, make the return journey part of your evening’s plan before setting out. A suburban dance night and drinks near your accommodation call for different arrangements.

ATV’s urban night network uses fixed-route, fixed-timetable Line 80 services. Scipione is an on-demand feeder from peripheral areas to interchange points, not a substitute for every central bus journey. Porta Vescovo is the interchange serving the Veronetta side, and services towards the centre run at intervals of 22–25 minutes.

Route 93 links Via Belobono in Cadidavid with Verona Porta Nuova station and then central Verona. It is the return-bus option for the Dorian Gray area, distinct from the daytime outbound bus.

For a taxi from the centre, the official Piazza Bra rank is in the middle of the roadway near number 28, facing the Bra gateway, Portoni della Bra. Use the licensed rank or arrange a licensed taxi for the suburban return.
