For a visit around Place Kléber, leave your car on the side of Strasbourg you arrive from and continue by public transport. CTS park-and-ride sites combine parking with bus and tram travel, avoiding a drive into the pedestrian centre.
The best choice depends on more than the ride into town: the walk from your parking space to the stop, the final walk through the centre and carrying bags all matter. An overnight stay also needs a different ticket from a daytime visit.
Choosing a park-and-ride site
| Site | Approach | Line / alight at | Car to stop | Ride | Final walk |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hoenheim Gare | North | B / Homme de Fer | about 6 minutes | about 24 minutes | about 3 minutes |
| Rives de l’Aar | Wacken | B / Homme de Fer | about 2 minutes | about 13 minutes | about 3 minutes |
| Espace Européen de l’Entreprise | North-west | G / Gare Centrale | about 1 minute | about 17 minutes | about 14 minutes |
| Rotonde | Inner north-west | A / Homme de Fer | — | about 14 minutes | about 3 minutes |
| Ducs d’Alsace | Cronenbourg | D / Homme de Fer | about 4 minutes | about 10 minutes | about 3 minutes |
| Parc des Romains | West | F / Homme de Fer | about 2 minutes | about 9 minutes | about 3 minutes |
| Poteries | West | D / Homme de Fer | about 4 minutes | about 19 minutes | about 3 minutes |
| Wolfisheim Henri Rendu | Outer west | Bus 240 / Homme de Fer | about 1 minute | about 21 minutes | about 3 minutes |
| Baggersee | South | A / Homme de Fer | about 4 minutes | about 17 minutes | about 3 minutes |
| Elsau | South-west | B / Homme de Fer | about 5 minutes | about 12 minutes | about 3 minutes |

| Boecklin | Robertsau | Bus 72 / République | about 4 minutes | about 11 minutes | about 11 minutes |
Choose the site on your approach. With bags, favour a service to Homme de Fer. It leaves you closer to Place Kléber than République or Gare Centrale.
Across these twelve sites, including Rotonde, the passenger-car daytime ticket costs €4.20 and the rolling 24-hour ticket €7.20. Hoenheim Gare parking is available 24 hours a day, every day.
The low-emission zone and Crit’Air
Strasbourg’s low-emission zone covers the Eurométropole road network, not just the historic centre. It applies continuously, day and night, every day of the week. Using park and ride does not itself exempt your drive from its rules. The pedestrian centre is a separate matter: permission to enter the emissions zone does not give you access to car-free streets.
Excluded motorway stretches include the A4 north of its A355 interchange, the A35 between the Hoerdt and A355 interchanges, and the M35 between Entzheim and Geispolsheim. Leaving an excluded road for a car park can bring you into the zone.
The occasional-visitor ZFE pass allows 24 consecutive hours per use, up to 24 uses a year. Vehicles outside the listed exemption categories may request it. Register your vehicle first, then submit a separate request for each use. It is not an automatic allowance attached to a parking ticket.

Strasbourg’s trams are not generally free: your P+R ticket pays for the included travel. The Tram A intervals above apply during the daytime at Homme de Fer in both directions, towards Graffenstaden and Parc des Sports Zénith.
- Take the P+R ticket at the entrance terminal, then park.
- Validate at every boarding and transfer. For trams and Bus G or H, use the platform validator before boarding, but for other buses, validate inside. One validation covers the group travelling together.
- Keep the same ticket for the return and validate again, including at connections.
- Back at the car park, pay at the automatic pay station before collecting your car. For a day-rate visit, you can also pay on arrival.
- Insert the paid ticket at the exit terminal to open the barrier. Payment is not made at the exit barrier.
Homme de Fer is the central interchange used by most of these journeys. Leave extra time for obtaining your ticket, waiting and boarding, especially with children or luggage. The journey table gives walking and riding time. Organise your return around the service to your own stop rather than simply reaching the interchange.

Sites on each approach
Each approach offers a different balance between staying on your arrival side and walking after you park. Use the site name for the drive, then the stop and direction for the onward journey. On the return, the same line can lead away from your car if you board in the wrong direction.
Hoenheim Gare, Rives de l’Aar and Espace Européen
Hoenheim Gare suits northern arrivals along route de la Wantzenau. Take Tram B towards Lingolsheim Tiergaertel and alight at Homme de Fer. Return towards Hoenheim Gare. Its terminus setting makes the return destination easy to recognise, but the approach to the platform involves more walking than at Rives de l’Aar.

Rives de l’Aar, near Wacken on rue Frédéric-Guillaume-Raiffeisen, is the more inward northern option. Board Tram B towards Lingolsheim Tiergaertel, then return towards Hoenheim Gare and alight at Rives de l’Aar. Its shorter car-to-stop walk helps when carrying bags.

Espace Européen de l’Entreprise at Carrefour de l’Europe suits the north-western approach. Reach it via A4/E25 exit 50 and the M885, without a restricted-access gate on that approach. Bus G takes you to Gare Centrale. Return on G towards Espace Européen de l’Entreprise. The stop is close to the car park, but the walk from the railway station to Place Kléber is longer. With heavy luggage or limited walking range, a tram arriving at Homme de Fer can be easier overall.

Rotonde, Ducs d’Alsace and the western sites
Rotonde on route d’Oberhausbergen is an inner north-western option, with Tram A towards Graffenstaden to Homme de Fer. Return towards Parc des Sports Zénith and alight at Rotonde. It suits drivers already approaching this part of town rather than those who would have to cross the city to reach it.

Wolfisheim Henri Rendu on route de Wasselonne lets outer-western arrivals leave the car before driving farther inward. Kibitzenau on rue de la Kibitzenau serves the south-east. Tram C towards Gare Centrale reaches Homme de Fer. Return towards Neuhof Rodolphe Reuss. Allow for the longer walk between car park and platform, particularly with a pushchair or luggage. On Monday–Friday, daytime Tram C runs every 3–8 minutes, but evening gaps widen.

Robertsau and Boecklin
Boecklin on allée René Cassin suits an arrival through Robertsau. The journey shown in the table uses Bus 72 to République, followed by a walk to Place Kléber. Return from République towards Robertsau Boecklin. This approach leaves a longer final walk than a service arriving at Homme de Fer. With luggage, young children or limited mobility, weigh that walk against the extra driving needed to reach a different site. If your visit starts around République rather than Place Kléber, Boecklin is a more natural fit: you can begin there without crossing the centre first.

Overnight parking and longer stays
For an overnight stay, use a rolling long-stay ticket rather than the daytime ticket. The 48-hour ticket costs €14.40 and the 72-hour ticket €21.60, with validity running from entry. Included bus and tram travel follows the chosen ticket period.
Leaving the car at P+R works well if you can carry your bags onto public transport and walk to your accommodation. Accommodation with its own parking can be easier for bulky luggage, especially when arrival and departure involve more than a central sightseeing visit.
Park and ride or central parking?
Park and ride rather than central parking
Pros
- A convenient stop on a wider road trip, without taking the car through central visitor streets.
- The combined ticket covers parking and group travel, useful for families comfortable using public transport.
Cons
- Bags and pushchairs must go onto public transport; both ends of the journey involve walking.
- Your evening return depends on the service to the car park.
- Parking nearer your accommodation may suit limited mobility or heavy luggage better.
Around Place Kléber, extensive pedestrian-priority and car-free streets mean the central visit still finishes on foot, even if you choose central parking. Bringing a car helps most when it serves the wider journey, not movement between central sights.
