Bristol to Turin Flights: Winter Routes and Transfers

Choose a direct winter flight from Bristol Airport when its departure suits your trip to Turin Porta Susa. Flying to Milan Malpensa is an alternative, but the onward coach adds a longer ground journey and another connection. Compare the airfare with bags included, then allow for getting out of the arrival airport before your train or bus.

Direct flights and the Malpensa alternative

Direct flights are a winter option, not a year-round connection. The dated departures above belong to the upcoming winter schedule. easyJet holidays, TUI and Crystal Ski are package listings, not extra scheduled airlines.

For either flight route, budget roughly £40–£180 one way before baggage extras. Ski-season dates and late purchase can push fares higher. From Bristol Airport’s departure terminal, both choices finish at Porta Susa.

Flying directly to Turin rather than via Malpensa

Pros

  • Ryanair direct flight plus station approach and train: roughly 2 hours 40 minutes of flight and ground travel; with the airport bus and final walk, roughly 2 hours 35 minutes. Neither includes airport processing, arrival exit or connection waits.
  • One-way ticket components: roughly £40–£180 airfare plus €3.70 train, or €7.50 bus (€8.50 bought onboard), before flight extras.
  • Avoids the Malpensa coach connection and longer ground journey.

Cons

  • Seasonal departure days may not suit. Malpensa gives another flight option when the full fare and connection work better.
  • Via Malpensa: roughly 4 hours 10 minutes of flight, Flibco coach and final walk, excluding airport processing, exit and connection waits; roughly £40–£180 airfare plus a coach ticket advertised from €18, before flight extras.

easyJet’s Bristol–Malpensa flight takes about 2 hours 5 minutes and arrives at Terminal 2. Its latest published departure is 17:30 on Wednesdays. Flibco’s direct coach to Porta Susa takes 2 hours 5 minutes. The final station walk is about 1 minute. Allow extra time at Bristol for check-in and security, then for leaving the arrival airport and waiting for onward transport.

Flight prices, bags and boarding

Compare the total with your bags added, not just the headline airfare. Buying ahead can help, but travel date and demand still drive the price. A larger cabin bag or checked suitcase can erase a saving on the flight itself.

  • easyJet Standard includes one under-seat bag, maximum 45 × 36 × 20 cm.
  • Ryanair’s lowest fare includes one under-seat personal bag, maximum 40 × 20 × 25 cm.

Bristol Airport recommends arriving at the terminal at least 2 hours before departure for European flights. Allow extra approach time for parking and reaching the terminal, because that is separate from the terminal allowance.

The airport train to Porta Susa

After your direct flight reaches Turin Airport, Trenitalia’s SFM4, SFM6 and SFM7 regional trains take you straight to Porta Susa, without a change. SFM4 links Alba and Cirié, SFM6 Asti and the airport, and SFM7 Fossano and Cirié, all via Turin.

A tunnel connects arrivals with Torino Aeroporto di Caselle station. The approach is about 550 metres and about 8 minutes. The train journey takes about 30 minutes. A one-way ticket costs €3.70. Weekday departures run every 30 minutes, so leave room for waiting as well as the approach after collecting luggage.

Validate a paper regional ticket at the departure station before boarding. You can validate it until 23:59 on its printed date, and must finish the journey within four hours of validation. Digital Regional Tickets activate automatically at your selected train’s scheduled departure, while Electronic Regional Tickets are already validated and need no further validation.

The step-free route to the platform requires assistance rather than independent use. Request RFI train assistance at least 12 hours ahead if you need accessible platform access. Temporary lift outages can affect access.

Buses and late arrivals

From Turin Airport arrivals, Arriva’s bus 268 goes to Porta Susa, then Porta Nuova. Board at the terminal’s airport bus stop. Departures run every 15 minutes on weekdays and every 30 minutes on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. Tickets cost €7.50 one way, or €8.50 onboard.

The bus journey takes about 31 minutes. From its Corso Bolzano stop, the final walk to Porta Susa station is about 3 minutes.

Validate paper tickets as soon as you board, and tell the driver immediately if the validator fails. Activate app tickets just before boarding and show staff the QR code rather than scanning it.

Allow for airport exit and waiting before counting on an onward departure. If public transport no longer works, Turin Airport’s central-city taxi estimate is approximately €40, not a fixed Porta Susa tariff. Driving to Porta Susa takes about 22 minutes, excluding the taxi queue. An overnight near your arrival airport is another option when no onward transport suits.
