Verona Airport to Trento: Bus, Train and Transfers

Getting from Verona Airport to Piazza Duomo in Trento usually means taking Airlink to Verona Porta Nuova, then a direct train and a walk into the centre. A taxi or private transfer removes the bus-to-train change, while the winter FlySki Shuttle offers another option if its departure fits your flight. Choose around the connection you can actually reach after collecting your bags, rather than your flight’s landing time.

Airlink plus train suits a traveller keeping costs down when the connection fits. Car costs are shared per vehicle, making them easier to justify with a group or heavy luggage. Allow separately for leaving the aircraft, baggage collection, service waits and station boarding. Luggage slows the walking links.

FlySki Shuttle runs during the winter ski season and stops at Trento railway station, not just resorts. If your evening rail connection is no longer reachable, choose a pre-arranged car or an overnight near Porta Nuova.

Verona Airport has no passenger railway station. Take ATV’s Verona Airlink, line 199, to Verona Porta Nuova. The airport stop is about 50 metres from arrivals, about 1 minute on foot. Keep your bus ticket accessible before loading your luggage.

The bus journey takes about 18 minutes. From the Airlink arrival stop, the railway station is about 150 metres away, about 2 minutes on foot. This approach brings you to the station, not to your train’s platform, so allow extra time to find the departure and board.

The first airport departure is at 05:35 every day. Airlink runs every 20 minutes at peak times and every 40 minutes otherwise, on weekdays and weekends alike. The adult fare is €7 one way per person.

Validate your Airlink ticket when boarding. Put a paper ticket through the onboard validator before the next stop. If the machine is broken, tell the driver and write the date and time on the ticket. With a digital ticket, scan the QR code displayed at the bus entrance.

Trains and the walk to the centre

At Verona Porta Nuova, choose a direct train to Trento to avoid another change. Trenitalia operates Regional, Regionale Veloce (fast regional) and Frecciarossa services, and Italo also runs direct high-speed trains. The Frecciarossa rail leg takes just under an hour. Regional services take longer, while faster journey options depend on the departure selected.

Select Verona Aeroporto as your origin when buying an airport-to-Trento journey through Trenitalia. This adds the Airlink bus component to the rail fare. The airport name is a journey label, not a railway station. An ordinary Italo ticket covers only the rail journey from Verona Porta Nuova, so buy Airlink separately.

Italo advertises one-way adult tickets from €8.90 per person for selected departures, not a flexible fare or a Frecciarossa ticket. For flexible high-speed travel, budget roughly €20–€40 per person one way, depending on the service and availability. Buying after reaching the station avoids committing to a departure before your flight arrives, but inexpensive offers may be less available. If buying ahead, choose ticket conditions that allow the change you would need after a delay.

Validate a paper Regional ticket in a station validator before departure. A Trenitalia Digital Regional Ticket validates automatically at the selected train’s scheduled departure: show its green dynamic bar during inspection. An Electronic Regional Ticket also needs no validation. These rail-ticket rules are separate from the Airlink boarding procedure.

The first listed train, Regional 16656, leaves at 05:20 and arrives at 06:30 on working days. The first airport bus leaves too late to connect with it.

From Trento railway station, walk into the centre to Piazza Duomo. The shared final leg for train passengers, winter-shuttle passengers and anyone dropped at the station is about 600 metres, about 8 minutes on foot. Leave extra time with wheeled bags rather than treating the walk as an exact appointment time.

Back at Verona Airport arrivals, the taxi rank is just outside the terminal. For a late-night arrival, arrange pickup with one of these companies by phone or messaging app. A rank taxi is metered, while a private transfer has an agreed quote. Pre-arranged chauffeur services are also available, with the meeting place agreed with your chosen provider.

The drive from the airport rank to Trento station takes just over an hour. The car comparison includes terminal access and a further driving leg to Piazza Duomo, subject to permitted vehicle access. A station drop-off instead leaves you with the walk described above.

Ask for a quote covering your actual party and final address. Budget roughly €180–€280 per vehicle for a taxi or private transfer. State passenger numbers, luggage, child-seat needs and overnight pickup, and agree how flight delays affect collection. A larger vehicle or special arrangements can push the price towards the upper end of that range.

For an accommodation transfer, agree the precise address and whether the vehicle can reach it. A hotel drop-off is a different journey from the central comparison: restricted access may mean meeting or alighting at a nearby permitted point.
