Romantic Restaurants in Myrtle Beach: Dinner for Two

A romantic dinner in Myrtle Beach can mean watching the Atlantic from Sea Captain’s House or watching steak Diane take shape beside your table at The Library Restaurant. Choose the occasion you both enjoy: an ocean view, a chef-owned restaurant, tableside cooking, a steak to share or fondue you cook together. These five restaurants are alternatives for one evening, not stops to combine.

Choose your dinner for two

New York Prime28th Avenue NorthPorterhouse for two, with sides$100–$140—
The Melting PotNorth Kings Highway, near 50th Avenue NorthCheese fondue, then a cook-at-table main course$60–$85None

These rounded estimates cover food for a full dinner and one non-alcoholic drink per person, with tax and tips additional. Soup and cheese fondue are starters, not the whole meal. Wine and extra courses raise spending, especially when you add a bottle or extra sides.

Choose Sea Captain’s House if an ocean view makes the evening romantic, or The Library Restaurant if you enjoy tableside cooking. Aspen Grille puts the chef and the lamb at the centre of dinner, New York Prime suits sharing a substantial steak, and The Melting Pot gives you something to do together between conversation.

Reserve a table for two, giving more notice for weekends, anniversaries and other special occasions. Request your preferred seating when reserving, but treat it as a request rather than a guarantee. Leave the evening unhurried instead of fitting dinner tightly between other plans.

Sea Captain’s House

Sea Captain’s House belongs on your shortlist for Atlantic views from both the dining room and the oceanfront patio. Its North Ocean Boulevard location is directly on the beachfront, so the attraction is enjoying the water from your seat rather than making a separate outing before dinner.

Start with she-crab soup, a creamy crab soup traditionally enriched with crab roe. Here it is a signature starter before a seafood main course. Choose a cup if you want a lighter beginning or a bowl if the soup is a particular draw, leaving appetite for the rest of dinner.

Choose a daylight sitting if seeing the ocean matters. Myrtle Beach faces east, so this is a view of the Atlantic rather than a sunset sinking into the sea. An earlier dinner lets you make more of that setting, particularly when daylight ends early. Dinner service runs from 4pm to 10pm, giving you a choice between a water-view meal in daylight and a later evening out.

Aspen Grille

Aspen Grille is a food-centred choice on North Kings Highway. Curry Martin is its executive chef and owner, giving this dinner a clear connection to the person leading the kitchen. Choose it when you want to build your evening around the lamb.

Australian rack of lamb is the order to build dinner around. A rack is a connected section of rib chops, usually roasted and cut between the bones for serving. It offers tender meat around each rib, with a richer flavour than a mild fillet steak. Decide how substantial you want your main course to be before adding a starter.

This is a higher-priced dinner rather than a casual bite. Keep the lamb as the focus and choose the remaining courses to suit your appetite, instead of assuming that a special occasion needs every course. Its evening-only service suits making the restaurant the main event of your night.

The Library Restaurant

The Library Restaurant makes dinner an occasion through steak Diane prepared tableside. The cooking happens beside you, making the preparation part of what you have come to enjoy rather than something hidden in the kitchen. It suits a couple who want a point of interest during dinner without taking over the cooking themselves.

The steak is finished with a creamy mushroom demi, a rich mushroom sauce based on reduced stock. Expect the sauce to be an important part of the dish, not simply a garnish. Its richness makes steak Diane a substantial centrepiece, so choose any starter with the main course in mind.

The restaurant is on North Kings Highway in the northern part of Myrtle Beach. Make this a dinner destination in its own right and allow room in your evening to watch the preparation as well as eat. The tableside element is the reason to choose it, especially when you want the meal itself to mark an anniversary or another celebration.

New York Prime

New York Prime, on 28th Avenue North, is the choice for a porterhouse for two. The T-shaped bone separates two cuts: strip steak on one side and fillet on the other. Sharing it lets you enjoy both textures rather than choosing identical individual steaks.

New York Prime prepares its steaks Pittsburgh-style, meaning a strongly seared exterior. That browned crust is a central part of the appeal if you enjoy steak with a pronounced char. Discuss how you both like the meat cooked before settling on a shared order, since the exterior and the doneness inside are different considerations.

Sides are part of the usual shared steakhouse dinner. Choose a few to complement the meat rather than treating the porterhouse as a complete meal on its own. Agreeing on the accompaniments gives you a dinner to share across the table, with the steak remaining the centrepiece.

The Melting Pot

The Melting Pot on North Kings Highway suits couples who want an interactive dinner. Begin with cheese fondue, dipping bread into a pot of melted cheese. It is a shared starter, giving you something to enjoy together before the more substantial cooking course.

For the main course, you cook your chosen meats, seafood and vegetables at the table in broth or oil. This is a different activity from dipping into the cheese: the ingredients need cooking rather than simply coating. Follow the staff’s guidance for the chosen cooking method, particularly for raw meat and seafood.

The course-by-course format makes the activity part of dinner rather than a brief flourish. Choose it when you both enjoy participating in a meal, and leave space between courses for conversation. Avoid a tight commitment immediately afterwards, since cooking together is better enjoyed without watching the clock or trying to hurry through the main course.
