Romantic Restaurants in Savannah for Dinner for Two

Choose the dining room as carefully as the food for a romantic dinner in Savannah. Chive Sea Bar & Lounge suits shared seafood and cocktails, while The Olde Pink House makes its historic mansion part of the occasion. Circa 1875 offers a French bistro setting, Saint Bibiana pairs Italian pasta with a Forsyth Park location, and Elizabeth on 37th gives the evening over to a Lowcountry tasting menu.

Typical dinner budgets, not fixed menu prices.

These rounded budgets allow for food and one alcoholic drink, including sales tax and a customary gratuity of about 20%. The first four assume individually ordered courses, while Elizabeth on 37th allows for the tasting-menu meal. Extra cocktails or a bottle of wine raise the total.

Reserve a dining-room table for two rather than bar seats, and describe the seating you want. A request for a particular room or booth is not a guarantee. Leave dinner unhurried rather than squeezing it between other plans, and allow a separate journey for East 37th Street.

For a drinks-only date with a view, Savannah rooftop bars offer a different evening from these full seated dinners.

Chive Sea Bar & Lounge

Chive Sea Bar & Lounge puts shared seafood in a 1920s-inspired lounge at the centre of your dinner. Dark wood, velvet booths and chandeliers give its West Broughton Street room a more dressed-up setting than the word “bar” might suggest. Cocktails fit the occasion, but the seafood gives you a reason to settle in for a meal.

Order the Chive Sea Platter in its portion for two, a chilled selection of seafood that lets you share rather than each committing to a separate main. Choose it when you both want seafood and enjoy picking from the same platter. If your appetites or preferences differ, separate mains make the order easier to tailor.

For a smaller beginning, choose She Crab Soup or Sweet Potato with Lobster Soup. If you want lobster soup, order the sweet-potato version rather than asking for lobster bisque, which is not on the dinner menu.

Dinner begins at 5pm. Friday and Saturday service finishes later than on the other evenings, giving you more room to place dinner after other plans.

The Olde Pink House

The Olde Pink House makes Southern dinner in a Georgian mansion the occasion. Beside Reynolds Square on Abercorn Street, it occupies the William Williams House, built in 1771. The building’s history is part of the appeal if you want your dinner setting to belong distinctly to Savannah.

Crispy Scored Flounder is the main to order here. Scoring means cuts across the fish’s surface, helping create the crisp finish named in the dish. It gives you a clear centrepiece for dinner rather than making the meal a collection of starters.

Fried green tomatoes are firm, unripe tomatoes, usually coated and fried, with a tart interior beneath the crust. Here they accompany the pan-seared jumbo lump crab cake, and a fried green tomato side is also available. Choose the crab-cake combination if you want both together, or add the side to another order.

The main dining rooms, tavern and cellar rooms offer distinct settings within the same restaurant. Name your preferred space when arranging dinner rather than treating every table in the mansion as interchangeable.

Circa 1875

Circa 1875 is for a French dinner in an intimate, vintage-style bistro room on Whitaker Street. Its Old World French setting makes the dining room central to the choice, not just somewhere to sit while eating. There is also a bar and pub area, so ask for the bistro dining room if that is the evening you have in mind.

Start with escargot, snails broiled with garlic and parsley in beurre blanc, a butter-and-wine sauce. The rich sauce is part of the dish’s appeal, making this a starter to linger over before choosing your main rather than a complete dinner on its own.

French onion soup offers another beginning, topped with Gruyère cheese and a toasted baguette crouton. It is a substantial, cheese-topped starter, so let your appetite decide whether you each want soup or would rather share a first course before moving on.

Saint Bibiana

Saint Bibiana combines Italian pasta with a historic-mansion setting beside Forsyth Park. Within Hotel Bardo on Drayton Street, its grand interior mixes indulgent styling with simpler, everyday details. Choose it when you want a dinner room with a sense of occasion without making the menu a formal tasting sequence.

Order Cavatelli Sardi, small, ridged pasta pieces with Sicilian ’nduja, a spicy spreadable sausage, sambuca and Parmigiano Reggiano cheese. The sausage makes this a more assertive pasta choice than a mild cheese or butter dish. Sambuca is an anise-flavoured liqueur, adding another distinctive ingredient to the combination.

Choose this pasta if you enjoy spice and eat pork. Its ingredients matter more to that decision than the Italian name alone. Treat it as the centre of your individually ordered dinner, with other courses chosen to suit how hungry you are.

Forsyth Park gives you a natural place for a walk before dinner. Keep that part of the evening leisurely, then head to the mansion for the meal rather than making the park a hurried extra stop. The setting works especially well when you want the walk and dinner to be the evening’s two main pleasures.

Elizabeth on 37th

Elizabeth on 37th suits an evening centred on a Lowcountry tasting menu rather than a quick dinner between other activities. Its East 37th Street setting is an 1860s Regency-style mansion, formerly the home of businessman Aaron Champion. Allow a separate journey beyond the central Historic District and give the meal room to unfold.

Dinner is a seven-course tasting menu, with choices for some courses. That format changes how you order: you are choosing within a sequence, not assembling a starter and main from an à la carte menu. It is a good fit when you both enjoy making the whole meal the occasion.

Lowcountry means the coastal cooking of Georgia and South Carolina, with seafood central to this proposed order. Look for the signature seafood crêpe with sherry cream sauce when it appears in the changing menu. Treat the crêpe as a dish to look for, not a guaranteed course.

Brothers Greg and Gary Butch own and run the family restaurant, and chef Kelly Yambor leads the kitchen. The combination of a historic house and a course-by-course dinner gives this choice its particular character.
