6 Romantic Things to Do in Savannah for Two

A walk along Jones Street gives you time to look at Savannah’s historic houses together, while Forsyth Park offers room to settle down with a picnic. For an evening date, you can look across the rooftops at Peregrin, learn to make cocktails or linger over Southern food in a historic mansion. Choose the experience you want to share, rather than trying to fit all six into one day.

Independent choices for two. Walking approaches start at Chippewa Square. Outdoor visit allowances are suggestions, separate from the approach.

Savannah suits a romantic visit if you enjoy walking, unhurried breaks and an evening together. Mild weather favours the outdoor choices, and Jones Street and the southern squares pair naturally with Forsyth Park. For rain, choose the indoor cocktail class or dinner. For a cultural indoor visit instead, explore more things to do in Savannah, including museums.

1. Jones Street and the historic squares

Jones Street is a strong choice for a romantic stroll, with historic houses and an oak canopy that give you plenty to notice without needing to enter a building. Walk at a pace that lets you stop over a façade or compare the houses you each like, rather than treating the street as a photograph to collect.

Monterey Square adds a place to sit on a bench and look towards the Mercer-Williams House. Chippewa Square offers another public space to pause among the historic surroundings. The pleasure here is in the streets and squares themselves, so you can enjoy the walk without making a house-museum visit part of it.

In hot weather, favour morning or late afternoon and wear comfortable shoes for uneven paving. If you want to extend the outing, the southern squares lead naturally towards Forsyth Park, where a picnic changes the pace from looking around to sitting together.

2. A picnic in Forsyth Park

Forsyth Park gives you a different kind of date from the historic streets: walk past the white fountain, then find a lawn for a picnic. The oak-lined paths make the walk part of the pleasure, but leave room to stop rather than covering the park as a sightseeing circuit. If you have come through the southern squares, this is a natural place to sit down together.

Bring picnic food, a blanket and drinking water so that you can choose a spot for its shade rather than its proximity to refreshments. Morning or late afternoon is a useful choice in hot weather, and shade matters more than a clear view of the fountain when you settle down. If rain makes the lawn uninviting, choose Congress Street Up’s indoor cocktail class or a dinner date instead.

3. River Street and Plant Riverside

River Street offers a date built around river views and browsing, with shops and galleries to dip into as something catches your interest. Plant Riverside District anchors the western end of the waterfront choice, with public waterside space for a pause together. Choose late afternoon into early evening if you want to follow the walk with drinks or dinner, rather than setting out to see every shop.

The waterfront lies below the Historic District bluff, so the descent is part of getting there. For a step-free connection, use the public River Street Elevator between City Hall and the Hyatt Regency. Once at river level, uneven paving still calls for comfortable footwear and attention to your footing.

Heat can make a waterside walk less appealing even when the views are clear. Allow yourself indoor browsing breaks, and in rain take care on the paving rather than making the whole waterfront a compulsory walk. This is a choice for looking and stopping together, not a route you need to finish.

4. Rooftop drinks at Peregrin

Peregrin at Perry Lane Hotel is a choice for a shared drink with views across the Historic District’s rooftops. You do not need to be a hotel guest to visit, so it works as a date in its own right rather than an extra attached to your accommodation. Take time to look across the buildings together instead of treating the rooftop as another sightseeing stop.

Late afternoon towards sunset is a good choice when outdoor weather appeals. Let the view be the reason to come, with drinks accompanying the pause. If you would rather spend the evening indoors, the cocktail class offers something to do together, while The Olde Pink House makes the meal itself the occasion.

5. A cocktail class at Congress Street Up

Congress Street Up offers public cocktail-making classes in a Prohibition-era-styled room. Choose this for a hands-on indoor date, making cocktails together rather than simply ordering them at a bar. The class is a different experience from a museum tour, and its evening session is best treated as your main commitment.

Classes run Monday–Saturday at 7pm. Arrive 10 minutes before the start so you are ready to take part. Space is limited, so call (912) 250-4505 for reservations rather than relying on finding room when you arrive.

The room is upstairs in the American Prohibition Museum, which is designated as not accessible. If you need step-free access, choose a different date option.

6. Dinner at The Olde Pink House

The Olde Pink House combines Southern food with dining in a historic mansion, making it a good anniversary choice if you want the meal to be the occasion. Give dinner the evening rather than squeezing it between attractions. The setting gives you something to enjoy beyond the plate, and a seated meal leaves time for conversation without needing to move on to another stop.

The restaurant welcomes public dinner guests, so you can choose it as a standalone celebration meal. It is an upscale option, and it is one example of a special dinner rather than the only way to mark an anniversary in Savannah.

The second-floor dining rooms can be reached by lift or stairs. If lift access matters to your evening, request seating in those rooms when arranging dinner.
