Tenerife Nightlife: Clubs, Bars and Cabaret

Playa de las Américas is Tenerife’s clearest choice for a dance-floor night, with Tramps around Starco and Papagayo by the beachfront. The island also offers waterfront pubs in Los Cristianos, resident-oriented bars in Santa Cruz and a seated comedy dinner show at Music Hall Tavern. Choose the kind of evening you want before choosing the area.

Tenerife suits more than a lads’ holiday: southern clubs work for groups wanting to dance, while pub terraces, city dining and cabaret offer different evenings. These are independent choices, not stops on one bar crawl. Starco is the southern reference point; the other starting squares belong to their own towns.

Dinner and terrace drinks generally come before late clubbing. Allow time to settle into a bar rather than expecting every dance floor to be busy straight away. Programmes and line-ups vary by event.

  • Budget roughly €3–€6 for a pub beer, but larger pours and waterfront settings can cost more.
  • Allow around €7–€12 for a bar cocktail, depending on spirits and setting.
  • Expect roughly €10–€16 for beachfront-club cocktails, but premium spirits cost more.

Tramps and the Veronicas Strip

Tramps is for a night centred on dancing to house, R&B and commercial chart hits. Its music-led club nights suit readers who want a dance floor rather than a seated performance or conversation over dinner.

The main southern party strip is the Veronicas nightlife area in Playa de las Américas, with Starco part of the same wider setting. Tramps sits within Starco, so you can approach it through the commercial complex rather than treating it as a separate excursion along the coast.

Tramps opens every night, with entry by ticket or package. The early-bird price on the card applies to an event ticket: choose the ticket for the night you intend to attend, and pay attention to what that option includes.

Admission is for ages 18 and over, and tank tops and sports shorts are not allowed. Dress for a club night rather than a beach outing. Disorderly behaviour can also lead to refused entry.

Papagayo Beach Club

Papagayo Beach Club offers a more polished, DJ-led alternative to a chart-heavy dance-floor night. Its music-led appeal comes from the range of sounds across the programme: house and electronic music, hip-hop and R&B, and Latin or reggaeton nights.

Choose the event by its sound rather than assuming the same music every evening. Afro house, tech house and disco also feature in its varied programming, making this a useful choice when the DJ or style matters more to you than simply finding a busy club.

From Starco, the approach takes you towards the beachfront. The club programme runs Wednesday to Sunday, with tickets sold for individual events. Choose the event by its music and ticket conditions. Programming is event-based, including special holiday programmes, rather than one fixed seasonal run. Choose a club event rather than assuming daytime restaurant opening means the dance floor is running.

Los Cristianos waterfront bars

Los Cristianos waterfront bars suit a pub-and-terrace evening with room for conversation, rather than a night built entirely around a club. Around the harbour and San Telmo, seafront terraces and chill-out venues sit alongside pubs and discos with varied music. The scene runs year-round, and dancing remains an option if you want to carry on after drinks.

Claddagh Irish Bar gives you an Irish-pub setting and live-music evenings. Taylors Lounge is a contrasting sports-led pub choice with evening entertainment: choose it when watching sport and familiar pub surroundings are part of the appeal. Neither needs to stand for the whole waterfront, whose venues offer different kinds of evening.

Start from Plaza Virgen del Carmen and head towards the San Telmo waterfront. You can favour a terrace for a quieter conversation or a pub for entertainment, rather than committing everyone to the same style of night. Individual bars have their own opening patterns. The area is not one venue with a single club schedule.

Santa Cruz city bars

Santa Cruz city bars offer a resident-oriented alternative to the southern resort scene, especially at weekends. La Noria, the pedestrian street also known as Calle Antonio Domínguez Alfonso, brings dinner and nightlife together in the historic centre: restaurants can become places to dance after the meal.

Avenida de Anaga offers another setting along the port frontage, opposite the cruise ships and ferries. Here, restaurants, terraces, pubs and clubs let you choose between drinks and dancing. La Bowie and Atomic are younger-crowd pub examples, useful choices if you want a pub evening rather than a formal dinner.

From Plaza de España, head into the historic centre towards La Noria. Staying in or near Santa Cruz makes this a city night out close to your base. From a southern resort, it becomes a cross-island evening rather than an extension of the Starco club area, so choose it because you want the city’s dining-and-bar scene.

Music Hall Tavern

Music Hall Tavern at Vivo Show Bar in Playa de las Américas is a seated comedy drag show rather than a club night. An all-male cast performs music and dancing in elaborate costumes, with a family-friendly format suitable for all ages. The ticket combines a three-course dinner with the show, making this a choice for an evening’s entertainment at your table.

Night buses and taxis

TITSA Line 711 runs nightly between Santa Cruz, Tenerife South Airport, Los Cristianos and Costa Adeje, serving the southern resort corridor overnight. Columbus is the stop for the Veronicas and Starco nightlife area. For southbound travel from the city, board at Intercambiador de Santa Cruz, the Santa Cruz bus interchange.

For a nearby night out, walking back may be the simplest choice if your accommodation is within comfortable reach. Otherwise, use a taxi rank or ask the venue to call a licensed local taxi, and have your accommodation’s name and address ready.

A return from Santa Cruz to a southern resort is a cross-island journey, not a local taxi hop. Choose your return method before setting out. Music Hall Tavern does not provide Tenerife transport, so arrange your own way there and back.
