Turin Airport to the City Centre: Train, Bus or Taxi?

Turin Airport, also called Caselle (TRN), connects to the centre by Trenitalia train, Arriva and Flibco buses, and licensed taxis. Piazza Castello is the destination to compare, rather than treating arrival at a railway station as the end of your transfer. The train reaches Porta Susa, while the buses offer Porta Nuova arrivals, leaving a walk into the centre.

Choose the train for a low-cost trip if you can manage your bags on the final walk. Buses let you stow larger luggage in the hold and arrive at Porta Nuova. With children or several bags, a taxi reduces walking and luggage handling. Larger groups should request a suitable vehicle.

The moving-time totals exclude service waits, taxi queues and airport formalities. Flibco’s coach time ends at the station, not Piazza Castello, and its starting-price offers are not guaranteed fares. For the train, choose a direct Porta Susa service rather than relying solely on a departure labelled towards Turin.

Arrange a road transfer if a late landing leaves no comfortable margin to board a bus. Allow for passport control and baggage reclaim rather than choosing solely from your flight’s arrival time.

Airport train to Porta Susa

Trenitalia’s SFM4, SFM6 and SFM7 connect Torino Aeroporto di Caselle railway station directly with Porta Susa. From the Arrivals exit, the station approach is about 550 metres, taking about 8 minutes on foot. Follow the railway signs rather than heading to the bus stops. The first departure towards Turin is at 06:00.

The rail journey to Porta Susa covers about 17 km. Porta Susa still leaves a substantial walk to Piazza Castello: about 1.8 km, taking about 25 minutes. This final stretch matters if you have a heavy suitcase or limited walking endurance, because getting off the train does not put you at the main square.

Paper tickets and Digital Regional Tickets work differently. Validate a paper ticket at your starting station before departure, no later than 23:59 on its printed date. Complete the journey within four hours of validation. If the validator is missing or broken, ask the onboard staff to validate it without a surcharge.

A Digital Regional Ticket is automatically validated at the scheduled departure of your selected train, so no check-in is needed. Keep the ticket available for inspection rather than looking for a paper-ticket validator.

If Tap&Tap is available for your journey, tap in at a validator marked TAP&TAP before boarding and wait for confirmation.

Arrange assistance if you depend on lifts at Porta Susa. Reports dated 27 and 29 September 2026 described temporary lift outages between platforms and station levels. A lift-dependent arrival needs assistance arrangements rather than an assumption that every lift will be usable.

Airport buses to Porta Nuova

Arriva and Flibco offer Porta Nuova arrivals, useful if you want to approach Piazza Castello through the centre rather than walk from Porta Susa. Choose your alighting stop as well as your operator: both services have other central stops. Larger luggage goes below the passenger cabin, so keep your ticket and anything needed during the ride with you.

Arriva ordinary and express buses

Both Arriva services board at Turin Airport. The ordinary airport bus serves both Porta Susa and Porta Nuova, with intermediate stops. Its express service runs directly to the city centre. If your accommodation is near Porta Susa, the ordinary bus lets you alight there rather than continue to Porta Nuova and double back. The first direct airport-to-centre departure is 06:30 daily.

From Arriva’s Porta Nuova alighting stop, the walk to Piazza Castello is about 1.3 km, taking about 19 minutes. Allow for that final walk when deciding whether the bus suits your luggage. Stowing a suitcase during the ride does not remove the need to wheel it through the centre afterwards.

Buy before boarding through Arriva MyPay, the online portal, WhatsApp, airport ticket desks or machines, or an authorised reseller. Onboard contactless payment is also available. Activate a MyPay ticket just before boarding and show its QR code to staff, but do not scan it. Online-portal tickets cover one run on the selected day.

One hand bag is included per passenger, up to 10 kg, and must fit in the overhead rack. Larger items go in the external luggage compartment. Excess baggage depends on space at departure, so keep essential items in your cabin bag.

Flibco airport buses

Flibco boards at the airport’s arrivals-area bus stop. For the walk towards Piazza Castello, choose Porta Nuova at Piazza Carlo Felice, beside Via Roma. This is separate from Turin-Central Bus Station at Corso Vittorio Emanuele II 131/H, bay 5. The two stop names are not interchangeable.

Flibco’s first airport-to-Porta Nuova departure is at 00:30 daily. If a delayed flight makes you miss your booked shuttle, your ticket can be used on the next bus free of charge, subject to availability. That flexibility helps after a delay, but it does not reserve a seat on the next departure.

The allowance is one hand-luggage item up to 35 × 20 × 20 cm and 10 kg, plus one hold bag up to 55 × 85 × 40 cm and 25 kg. Wheeled bags must go in the hold. Keep valuables, fragile items and anything worth over €300 with you, not below the coach.

Licensed taxis and private transfers

The licensed taxi rank is on your left as you leave Arrivals. The approach is about 50 metres, taking about 1 minute. A rank taxi is the simplest option when you want to avoid station access and the longer walks from Porta Susa or Porta Nuova.

The drive to the vehicle-accessible arrival point beside Piazza Castello covers about 17 km and takes about 26 minutes. From there, pedestrian access to the square is about 200 metres, taking about 2 minutes. Traffic can lengthen the drive, and taxi queues add waiting before it starts.

The metered downtown estimate in the comparison is not a fixed price or guaranteed maximum. A private transfer is different: you arrange a pickup and agree its quote beforehand. For a late landing, agree how the pickup will work if your flight is delayed, rather than assuming a driver will wait indefinitely.

For a bigger group, Taxi Torino offers a request-and-quote arrangement for a special car with 6 or 8 seats. Call +39 011 5730 or +39 011 5737 and describe both your party and your bags. Requesting a larger vehicle is preferable to assuming a standard rank taxi will accommodate everyone.
